VPN issues - Smart TV with routing settings has IP of other country but content is still blocked

TLDR; The IP address of the smart TV says UK, but services like Prime, BBC and Channel 4 are still blocking us, saying we’re using a VPN. Is there anything we can do apart from switching the VPN provider?

Details:
We have an UDM SE and an LG smart TV.

We want to use express VPN to watch content in the UK.

I have set it up so only the smart Tv is routed via the VPN.

It works fine on our mobile devices, when the VPN is setup locally on the device - this is what makes me think our UDM SE is causing the issues.

We have set everything location related to the UK.

I have checked the IP of the TV via its browser and it says it’s in the UK.

However, we still cannot watch UK Prime/freevee.

Any suggestions to fixing this?
Much appreciated

The VPN normally has a data center IP so some services may have detected that.

Probably not relevant, but I’ll just throw it out there because I was just trying to bypass geolocation restrictions on my laptop. Connected via wifi, the location returned by my browser was still my home location, but hard wiring resulted in the location being the the vpn location. I doubt webos is using the html5 location api, but if you’re desperate, it might be worth a test.

Did you ever resolve this? Looking to do the EXACT same thing for a client of mine - (new) LG TV looking to stream content from the UK… and we were thinking of switching the house over to UniFi.

Ahh nice. I’m going to give this a go. Thank you

I have checked the IP of the smart TV, with VPN on and it showed that I was in the UK. So the fault must be somewhere else :frowning:

I looked around for a while and tried a couple of things, but never got it working without hiccups.
It seemed to work for a while, but then it stopped and never worked again.
I just got fed up and will now attach an external computer/mac mini to solve the issue.
