VPN Help - They confuse me and IDK why đŸ˜Ș

IDK why VPN stuff confuses me so much. I’m just looking to stay safe and have great speeds. Am I “doing too much” here (see screenshot)?

Do I need all of these and the subscriptions? Not seen here is the iCloud Private Relay turned on.

Should I be using one of these over the other? I did subscribe to eero+. Should I be using that service?

Let the games begin

I wouldn’t trust anything made by McAfee let alone a VPN that funnels all of your web traffic through their servers. They’re just collecting data about you and selling it to advertisers or it’s being used by the private equity firms that own them.

I’m 99% sure that you won’t need a VPN. Most people don’t need them and just fall to advertising.

My only reason for a VPN is to avoid getting booted offline, or getting my approx location leaked by a 12 year old who can’t handle being beat on a video game.

There’s no reason for you to have all of these. Like the other commenter says you likely don’t even need one. Turn off Private Relay too.

Also VPNs will reduce your speeds.

Turn off all those and turn off private relay on your home network. You can do that by switching off Limit IP Address tracking on that specific WiFi network.

Willing to put my hand in fire OP is a Windows user.

Yikes! Sounds like I need to do some research on McAfee!

Any reason to disable Private Relay?

Ive always had Private Relay enabled on my network, what’s the reason for turning it off? Thanks

Lol both - but heavily prefer Mac. Had MacBook Pros for work for years and finally got a MB Pro M3 for personal use last October

It’s good if you are feeling paranoid but you generally don’t need it if you use Safari, and it might affect your speeds.

Ok, I always thought it only worked with Safari anyway which I do generally use most of the time.

Yeah Safari has good built-in tracking protection that will do 90% of the job. And you can always look up Private Relay’s details and decide for yourself if you think you really need it instead of just taking my word for it.

Thanks for the help I will find some more info on it as well.
