Hello there!
I have Windscribe Pro installed on my cellular iPad and I am USB tethering my iPad to my WiFi router.
Everything is working great, but about an hour after the iPad is locked, the VPN turns off in settings, and no internet connection. I go back to the iPad, unlock it, and turn VPN back on. Then everything works great until the VPN shuts off in settings after about an hour.
I’m assuming this is an iOS memory/power management thing, but not sure if there is some Windscribe setting somewhere.
Is there any way to keep the VPN running permanently on iOS even when locked?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Use WireGuard. Either manually in the app settings or on the dedicated WireGuard app. It’s (mainly) stateless.
Thanks for your reply!
Oh, I hadn’t thought of WireGuard for the iPad.
So you are saying that I can get a WireGuard config from Windscribe and set it up either in the Windscribe app or the WireGuard app?
You don’t need the config if using the Windscribe app, just go into the settings and change the Connection Mode to manual, and choose WireGuard.
If you prefer to use the WireGuard dedicated app you can generate the profile from:
https://windscribe.com/getconfig/wireguard
Oh I see, okay.
I’ll check this option out and see how it goes!
Thanks again.
