Using my router with 360 WiFi?

I am getting QF installed a week from now and I have a question.

My current setup is Xfinity modem (bridge mode) connected to a small non-wireless router(Brume 2) which handles VPN and NAS which is connected to Nest Wi-Fi (bridge mode).

Will I be able to have a similar setup using “360 Wi-Fi” instead of my Nest?

Update:
I finally got GF installed today - Yay!
After the installer completed the setup of the SmartNID and the 360 wifi access point, I decided to set the SmartNID ISP mode to transparent bridge and connected my own router (Brume 2) and access point (Nest Wi-Fi). I then connected the 360 WiFi to the LAN port of my access point. To my surprise, I am still able to manage the pod via the Quantum app.

You should be…. But I’ve had Google WiFi and Nest WiFi and in my opinion it is better than 360 WiFi especially with the recent change from the 360 WiFi app to QF app.

Honestly If I was getting it installed now I would let them install the SmartNid and keep the 360 WiFi in the boxes and use my own wireless router/mesh system until QF fixes their crappy slow app that doesn’t let you control as much as the app that it replaced.

The 360 pods were fine for the first 6 months I’ve had QF but once they changed the app my devices don’t connect as well and have other WiFi issues. So I’m going back to my old wireless router. I’ll have to look into that Brume2 you have tho. I need a good VPN setup.

Just curious why you would need the Nest wi-fi if you’re then connecting 360 wi-fi. Does this just create 2 wireless networks?

If you want 360 Wifi just connect it directly into the Smartnid to avoid double NAT also try them both out for a week (just unplug them when you’re trying the other thing)

That is strange because in bridge mode only one of the ethernet ports are supposed to be active. Does your router and the wifi pod both show the same IP address?

Thanks for your response. Is it easy to switch to bridge mode to use my own router (to avoid double NAT)? I was wanting to see how WiFi 7 works. Maybe I will have them set it up with the pods then change it afterwards.

This is the Brume 2:

It has been working great for me and I use PIA VPN wireguard and from my perspective quite fast.

Correct. Depending on where I am in my house and the device, I may get better performance on one or the other. With all the issues some people were having with their GF equipment or seemed like a good approach. So far it’s working great.

Thanks, but my question was if it is possible to connect it to my router. My (non-wireless) router provides my NAS and VPN.

I connected the pod to my Google Nest LAN port - not the SmartNID. Same gateway, different IP address.

I believe the smartnid can provide a NAS (usb port on the top right). You can also host a VPN by having a raspberry pi run openvpn on TCP port 443, (TCP port 443 is rarely blocked as it’s used for HTTPS)
and on the smartnid forward TCP port 443 to the local IP address of the raspberry pi.

considering you have a VPN you can certainly follow the tutorials below

https://www.centurylink.com/home/help/internet/modems-and-routers/advanced-setup/port-forwarding.html (not the exact user interface but the steps should be the same)

if you want to use your Brume 2 you will have to put the smartnid into transparent bridge mode and connect the W1700K to the brume. You’ll lose management features in the Quantum Fiber app aswell so no changing the SSID, password, and seeing connected devices.

I finally got GF installed today and to my surprise I am still able to manage the W1700K in the Quantum app even with using my own router. :+1:
