I got Hola pretty much solely for this purpose. The only other places that have this anime have them in terrible quality and the videos on Youtube are blocked in my country.
But when I switch to France to watch it is basically impossible to watch in anything but 360p because it makes everything load so slow.
Also apparently you can’t use the chrome cast to watch videos if they aren’t available in your country, even with using Hola.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is there a better Youtube unblocker to use?
Well you are using a vpn which always has a drop in network speed. You either want to switch to a better vpn service or get faster Internet. And I don’t think you can cast to a Chromecast since your not technical on the same network.
Have you tried using this anime site http://kissanime.com/
You could also try Crunchyroll, a legal (membership-based) anime, streaming site and see if it’s catalog of titles work for you.
Or, Daisuki, a legal and free (but with a way smaller catalog) anime streaming site.
First of all, you’re using Hola. Stop that.
Hola is a free service, it’s not going to be very fast since they have no incentive to give fast speeds
You could try a paid VPN like private internet access instead, which usually gives you 90-95% of your actual internet speed
I think Chromecast wont play those videos because it makes its own connection to YouTube. This means it will not go via the hola vpn.
Hm, I guess it makes sense that it would have some drop in speed but we normally never have any problem loading 1080p automatically, and with hola we could barely load 360p. That’s a huge drop.
This website does have them all. Not at 1080p like youtube but at least it seems to have them all. Thanks for the link.
I’ll check that out, thanks.
Yeah, it’s not on crunchy roll, I think it actually got removed not too long before I wanted to start watching it.
It’s the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimaya btw, forgot to put that in the post.
Okay, so what’s wrong with hola? I’ve tried two other self proclaimed youtube unblocker extensions, and so far hola is the only one to be able to unblock it. Is there a better alternative?
Thats what I meant. It’s not technical on the same network since hola is a vpn and it sets up a private connection so your bandwidth comes from another server. I’m not a network admin but I have a basic understanding of how a vpn works.
This. If I access US Netflix or BBC iPlayer with my VPN I can access the sites no problem but they will not play on my Chromecast. What you have to do is subscribe to a DNS Proxy service and set some static routes in your router to redirect Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) to your proxy service. I did that and have no issues.
As I said you are using a vpn which cost money to run for the provider. It’s a free vpn service so you can’t expect much. If you want a quality vpn with minimal loss go with private Internet acess.
