Use opnsense to have home network on a VPN?

Can I use my opnsense to funnel all my home network traffic through a VPN? I don’t want to put a vpn client on all my devices if I can avoid it.

It would be great to not have to pay for a VPN service some how but I’m sure I have ti route traffic through a different server (or gateway? Not sure of the proper term here) which is likely not free.

I’m guessing I would use the IPSec feature but as you may have guessed I am a novice and just trying to understand the capabilities of this device.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

The short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is still yes, but you have to understand that VPN is the heaviest load you can heap on a router, with the possible exception for real-time malware detection. So to use VPN on a fast Internet connection without slowing it to a crawl, you need a beefy router.

Yes, you can WireGuard MullvadVPN Road Warrior Setup — OPNsense documentation

I setup OpenVPN easily. I did have to install a client though. I hear it can be done with IPsec regardless but that’s beyond my pay grade.

And a beefy VPN exit node.
