Trying to get youtubeTV to work as I'm out of country

Been following the tricks i find online which all claim to be recent via their time and date (2022), but none of the solutions work.

Anyone else having this issue?

Is there something I’m missing? Thanks!

As far as I remember there was a list of servers that work with YoutubeTV so I’d recommend contacting their customer support team and they would provide you with that list

Many Streaming services block IP Addresses used by VPN services , to address people trying to bypass Geoblocking Restrictions.

I figured out a trick for iPad only it may work for other devices.

Make sure you don’t open any apps when you arrive.

Connect to the foreign wifi.

I used TunnelBear VPN. Select your home country or location. Start the VPN. (Other VPNs may work but if you want it to work for sure do it exactly how I did it.)

Before you open any app.Turn off location on YouTube tv from the iOS settings SETTINGS>Youtube TV> Location (set to “Never”) Do NOT open YouTube tv thinking you can turn off location in the app.

This worked for almost all other streaming apps. The trick is to make sure your iPad has no idea you left the country.

You may apply the “Never” location setting on the other streaming apps but I realized only YouTube tv had it, I tried paramount plus, discovery plus, HBO.
If it doesn’t say “Location” in the settings app then your probably fine.

Hope this helps.

You think the youtube tv support would actually provide that?

I’ll try but i have my doubts.

For other folks finding this thread on Google like I did:

  • Go to NordVPN support and start a chat session
  • Ask for server IDs that will work with YTTV
  • Screenshot the list from the chat in case you need to try several of them in the future

They really will send you working servers. And I did try one in Mexico and successfully got YTTV to work without the “You’re on a VPN” modal popping up.

Note that this only worked for me on a laptop and not the YTTV app on iOS, because the iOS app demands access to GPS even if the IP address looks US-based. On Android you could probably fool it.

I was referring to Nord’s support  Sorry for not specifying

Can you share which one? I’m trying to see if I can use YTTV for football season and am currently working from Mexico City

Yes, please help with what you found

What was the solution? What kind of person asks a question online and leaves everyone else hanging when they have an answer?

Someone crazy probably

He’s probably protecting his advantage as it would mean others would discover the back door.
