Thoughts about Meraki certification

Hi all,

My evergrowing company is heavily using Meraki for Networking, VPN, MDM and other services.

As an IT member I would like to get formal knowledge and have more confidence in my Meraki expertise.

I’m considering official Cisco Meraki certification course I found on the website and going all the way to exam with a certifacate as end goal.

Also if I’m understanding correctly in order to prepare oneself for exam you need to own Meraki equipment for a lab purposes?

Do anyone have any advice on certification and/or how to obtain the equipment in order to learn.

Thanks a bunch!

If your company is a Meraki partner you could take the CMNA and get some free gear(it’s an all day webinar/lab session, overall pretty easy if you have any experience in the dashboard already.

Also there are webinars you can attend to get a free switch or AP.

In terms of what companies are looking for I think the Meraki cert is at the bottom of the totem pole. Personally, I’d recommend the DevNet cert as you dip your toes into some new knowledge, and use the meraki gear to play with the API.

There’s a lot to learn. My recommendation would be to start by doing the ECMS1 and then the ECMS2 as they aren’t really exams but more so learning sessions. Since your company is a Meraki partner you should be able to get a spot in these pretty easy. They’re a bit more laid back than the certifications so I think it’s a good starting point

This is where I did my Meraki Certification, it is a two course thing. First course is 1 day, the second is 3 days, all online. Then you go and take the Certification test. I have some good contact info if you need it.

Thank you very much for your answer, I’ll keep that in mind!

I second ITechstacker’s comment. It isn’t a bad thing to take if your organization is jumping into the Meraki eco-system.

Ok that is very interesting, thank you!!
