Thinking about getting a VPN. Is Nord a good service?

I’ll basically be using it 24/7 for all my web browsing, streaming, and torrents. I’m looking at Nord and two other services. Just wondering what you think of Nord.

Sometimes I forget to turn off my NordVPN and I don’t even notice it. As you use a server in a country close to you, the speed is very good.

It works well for me, download torrents via a server farway from my location still gives me good speed. But sometimes have to switch servers when i wanna bypass netflix.

I use mine 24/7/365 and it is a huge burden. My internet speed is about 20% with it on.

Its been working well for me lately. Great speed, but I have to change servers depending upon which service I’m trying to use…Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc…

If would be best for you to try a few differant providers although nord is easy to use especially for torrenting as it does not require any special setup there is no guarantee it will work best for you due to your location or network setup.

Yes they’re a very good service, one of the most popular in fact. And with good reason too, they’re reliable and have been around for ages. I like them because you can use 30 days for free and cancel before the trial ends without paying, so you can really figure out if they’re for you or not - https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalMovieStreaming/comments/be9s0a/best_free_vpn_2019/

It’s pretty solid. It has a few issues with getting blocked by sites (Amazon, Netflix) but if you roll servers (of which there are a LOT) you’ll eventually find one that works.

I use it on all my devices; laptop, desktop and mobile.

I am in Aus and went for NordVPN after some research, and though I found it a bit fiddly at first, like I have to keep changing servers almost every day and hunt for something that works, even to get simple traffic or a ping working. It seems pretty good once I find a country that is working. speeds can vary but its working ok.

make sure you learn about the various things to ensure it keeps you private and is encrpyted (wireshark can check that) and that software does not carry on running if you drop the VPN connection, which will happen if you do not purposefully set those things not to happen like locking it to the TAP interface.

Speeds are great and I think for the price it’s a good deal. Be mindful though as you might need to hop around a few servers to get Hulu/Netflix to work. I do believe they have a 7-day trial if you wanted to see for yourself.

generally solid. been with them since last December and pretty reliable overall. be warned though, you won’t be able to access Amazon use their US servers though Canadian ones work fine. BBC iPlayer is hit and miss, only a few UK based servers work. Google also block some of their servers based in Eastern Europe. but I guess you’ll run into all these problems with other VPNs too.

I did some research and decided to switch from PureVPN to NordVPN, as I am uneasy about Chinese control and NordVPN has such excellent reviews. I did not test it, just made the switch, torrents worked well, but popular websites were hanging. Support reacted very well, but I was just unwilling to troubleshoot and fix each browser to make it work. So, I cancelled. Refund was also correctly executed.

So, not a happy ending, but their reactions were such that I still respect them and might well return. The tech support was excellent, as was customer support. I might have been a bit impatient, due to unrealistic expectations.

In the future I will be deciding between Mullvad and NordVPN. I really like the “no BS” approach of Mullvad, no special offers, no discounts, no hype … just a good service and more transparency. I like to know who the people behind the service are. All the others seem to be shrouded in secrecy.

I have turned mine off right now because I am binge watching MASH on Hulu. I have had issues getting onto Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon (just in general not to just stream shows). Other than that I think it’s great and I leave it on all the time on my android phone. Sometimes it gets slow but just need to change servers quick.

I run NordVPN on Windows, MAC, and Linux Mint. I love it.
Install NordVPN via the Terrminal on Linux. . It’s easier to use. Also if you run it in Terminal it only works with the TCP connections.

Yep speed is always good with Nord. Tbh speed is good with all of the popular VPN providers, and just about all of them give a free trial so you can test the speed out without paying - https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalMovieStreaming/comments/be9s0a/best_free_vpn_2019/

I use ExpressVPN now but had no complaints when I used to use Nord. I only switched because I saw a good deal on one of those comparison sites.

Are you using a server located in your country or a nearby country?

It is a bummer having to switch to servers in other countries just to buy something on Amazon or to visit a site that uses Amazon’s servers. I don’t understand the reasoning given that by switching to Canada, suddenly access is permitted. Surely the site is still using the same servers, albeit in a different region.

If you want to connect to Amazon use the “CA” (Canada) servers and it works good.
