I was trying to remotely access a computer with teamviewer and i was able to make the connection. The problem is: When i tried to connect the remote computer to a vpn client software(business level) while connected in teamviewer, it would close my teamviewer connection while the remote computer was still connected to vpn. So, why does this happens and is there any way to fix this?
The problem is the VPN client probably doesn’t allow split tunneling, it is seen as a security risk. As soon as you connect to the VPN it routes all your traffic through that tunnel instead of going out the DG. If they can’t connect to the VPN and browse the internet, then you won’t be able to use teamviewer even after the VPN is established.
Teamviewer uses port 443 (https) I believe. When the client starts the VPN session it essentially becomes disconnected from the home network (logically) and is now a part of the company’s internal network. If you close Teamviewer and relaunch after the VPN connection is established you should be able to connect back to the host.
Check and see if your VPN is causing your computer to change its’ default route from normal to the VPN. If it’s windows, then by default for any VPN connection that is created causes for the default route of the VPN to be preferred over the default route on the routing table given by the DHCP server.
Thank you for your reply! So, when the client VPN connection is stablished, i should be able to connect with teamviewer even if the remote computer is connected to a VPN.
I did this but then it wouldn’t let me start the connection with teamviewer until i told the user to get disconnected from the VPN.
