spectrum is blocking my vpn never had this issue until i upgraded my Wi-Fi router
You have to go into the Spectrum App & turn off the Security Shield if you want to avoid this using their router. Or get your own router…
Turn off the security thing.
So, after having messed with this issue for two weeks, I determined that there is something with the new routers that Spectrum is issuing that prevents connections to most VPNs. I could not resolve the issue after spending a lot of time with well-meaning customer service reps. I replaced the modem with one that is, ultimately an upgrade, but pretty common on the market, and voila … connection. Replace the router. Spectrum is charging you $5 a month for it, and it won’t work as it should. The modem is free, so keep that.
We are having a similar issue. Upgraded to new Spectrum modem and router and now we can not connect our laptop to my company’s Windows based server through the Windows based VPN
I have my own router. Before Spectrum when they were Time Warner, I could VPN home and watch any channel when away from home. Now when I try to connect with the sepctrum app it says VPNs not allowed. Found a modified app on an andproid forrum that had the VPN check disabled. Was a PIA in that every time they updated thier app I had to re-download the app after the new version was modified.
Getting your own router is the BEST idea. You have better choices of router software.
Thank you, this worked.
It’s not the modem. I am getting the same issue while on vacation when trying from another state where Spectrum doesn’t exist
I have it off now after all my devices was getting blocked that was on my VPN
The bad part is these new wifi routers are dumbed down to the point that you can’t have an Xbox and ps4 set up with port forwarding because only one device can be set up that way unlike the old system
when i try to do port forward for the ps4 and my xbox witch use the same ports it says that a device is already using theses ports
