Hi, I cannot, for the life of me, find out an answer or this… I have Sonicwall VPN client set up my my home PC to connect to my office network. All I need is the external IP and a shared secret (one time password). No need for Username/Password until I actually use RDP to a Windows machine.
If I try to set up Sonicwall VPN client for android, it also wants a username and password. I tried the username/password to my Sonicwall, Username/password to my windows machine, etc. but I am getting nowhere. Do I need to create a username/password in the Sonicwall Appliance to get my phone to connect? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like your home PC is using the Global VPN client, is that correct?
I’m not familiar with the Android Sonicwall client but I know that the iOS client is for SSL VPN connection only, while the Global VPN client establishes an IPSec VPN connection. If the Android client is also SSLVPN-based, you will need to configure the SSLVPN connection on your Sonicwall. SSLVPN and GlobalVPN use different connection settings.
I haven’t tried the Android client, but the Global VPN client for Windows does require a user to be set up on the firewall (at least the way I have it set up), which you then assign appropriate access privileges to.
Although, looking at the settings, I see now that this is optional. I’m not sure if I have it enabled because it’s required for PCI compliance, or if I had no choice with earlier firmware versions.
