I have a SoftEther VPN server at home, and personal laptop at school. I have a mobile hotspot but would like to use the VPN through the school internet. When I connect through my hotspot (before testing out the school internet). It says that it’s connected, but my I.P. address still the same as my hotspots.
EDIT: Apparently I have to enable SecureNAT. I can’t remember how I did it, but I’ll find out again when I have the time.
On the server, did you enable SecureNAT feature? You’ll need to go through the SecureNAT settings and enable everything and set your default gateway to the same value as the router address (it’ll make sense when you open that section).
Server is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Client is running Windows 10 Enterprise x64. I am using the SoftEther VPN Client. The client says I’m connected, but obviously it’s not actually tunneling my traffic at all, since my I.P. address is unaffected. I’m trying to figure out why this is happening.
Is the phone using a vpn? Your laptop is going through the vpn but it shows the phones ip because it is between the vpn on the laptop and the internet. You could put a vpn on the phone. If you are still concerned about it run an ip leak test connected to your home network or with the laptop connected directly to the school WiFi.
To enable the SecureNAT function, click on [Virtual NAT & Virtual DHCP Server (SecureNAT)] button in the VPN Server Manager and display the [Virtual NAT and Virtual DHCP Server function (SecureNAT) Setting] window (all subsequent explanations relating to SecureNAT assume that this window is open).
