So I had kaspersky now I got UltraAV because of the transfer. What should I go with now?

I don’t trust UltraAV for a few reasons. Not only do I not trust it but apparently I need to login to even do a system scan.

bruh I got jumpscared, thinking a virus somehow gotten into my system (Didn’t know anything about the transfer) I’m also uninstalling this now

Bitdefender is the best alternative. You can also look into ESET, F-Secure or Sophos home if you want something different.

Like always: Bitdefender, F-Secure, ESET, Windows Defender with DefenderUI.

Bitdefender is a good alternative to Kaspersky. You can also look into ESET, F-Secure or Sophos Home if you’re looking for something different.

It seems like Kaspersky doing this for money.

I knew this was coming, but when it installed itself without any input from me I was like, “Nope.” I uninstalled it. Funny thing is, it seem a lot of people have had Kaspersky uninstall itself, but mines still there and allows for me to update the Database without any issues. I’m going to bid my time for now and see if I can at least use up my remaining 266 days for my subscription first, unless UltraAV keeps creeping back onto my computers, then I’ll go back to Bitdefender. Which I have used for nearly 16 years since moving to Kaspersky.

Shame. As I really enjoyed Kaspersky as a product until this all went down.

Kaspersky being put in a difficult position. Internally they likely discussed “how do we retain recurring revenues, while not being shut out due to the ban on our endpoint?” and the solution they apparently came up with was to partner with UltraAV. The switch out, though, not ideal! This swap should have been an “opt-in”, not even an opt-out situation. My recommendation if you need to make the switch:

If you are a home user:
https://home.sophos.com

If this is a business, and you can make the move, id highly recommend going Sophos.

Next one down, maybe Sent1 or CRWD, if you like BSODs (but both $$$)

I used Kaspersky for decades and it was rock solid. UltraAV got installed and 2 days later, my system has crashed about 3 different times doing the most simplistic operations (upgrading Samsung Magician) or has rendered it temporarily unusable (I couldn’t save a file change to my dropbox for about 30s due to the “file being in use”).
Uninstalled it. So sad.

Hi can anyone help me uninstall this? It’s not appearing in Windows list of apps so I can’t uninstall via there or revo!! Help please

total AV found a malicious object in ultraAV files?!

What bothered me is it didn’t even ask if I wanted to install. I opened my comp and noticed two new desktop icons that I didn’t approve of. Uninstalled! :face_with_steam_from_nose:

anyone any idea if the pword manager (kaspersky) is going away, mine seems to have stuck, also how about the kaspersky protected browser, I can’t seem to access any of those bookmarks now, I mean I can’t open a protected browser where i saved all those bookmarks… any recommendations/help ? Appreciated

So those of us that renewed the first of this year will not be able to get a refund I’m sure.

Everyone got suprise-/ragebaited to advertise the new AV without realizing. Bad press is also press. Taking over their clients + advertising from the uninstalls, they did a clever deal with Kaspersky.

I was just transitioned to Ultra AV. I would be fine with this, but Kaspersky had features that I need.

Mainly a Chrome Extension that was for private browsing and anti-banner. I could use that extension to block/unblock (as needed) ALL pop-ups, ALL banners, and ALL annoying ads on ALL websites.

As far as I can tell Ultra AV doesn’t do this.

Does anyone know of/have an antivirus that uses the chrome extension to block all these annoying things?

Not sure what to do . I thought this was malware so I unistalled it.

Does anyone know how to get it back or a number I can call

I deleted ultraAV. Whats funny is KAV was on my system until a few days ago. Apparently it self -terminated off my system entirely. The PW manager is there though. So weird.

  1. UltraAV isnt certified by any AV testing companies at this point. It is a “relatively new” AV company
  2. While claiming to be based in Massachusetts, the software installer states "… INDIA… "
  3. the features claim to be similar to Kaspersky Total Security

Personally,

  1. I never got a notification of this migration. I found out 14 days (Oct 13) after Kaspersky shut down. I have been a user of Kaspersky over a decade and got notifications of everything else up till August. Only noticing my Kaspersky would “update the databases” to only still show databases are extremely out of date was what prompted me to research what was going on. THIS IS A HUGE POINT OF FAILURE by UltraAV and Kaspersky.

  2. The claimed seemless auto removal of Kaspersky and auto installation UltraAV didn’t happen on any of my five devices. I am glad it didn’t. Seems shady to switch a product out without express permission.

  3. I find it suspicious this company just popped up to take advantage of this.

Bottom line for me, even though I had several outstanding Kaspersky Total Security multi-device licenses spanning 2-3 more years that supposedly would carry over, I chose to move to Bitdefender, based on several key product factors.
