Should I buy Nordvpn?

I’m on the lookout for a vpn. Tried out surfshark for a month and got the refund. I liked surfshark to some extent but my friends had lots of issues. Some did not get it to work, some thought the killswitch feature was a sham. I personally got logged out every now and then, which was frustrating.

I want to check out nordvpn next and I’d like to know your experience and opinions on it.

Thanks

My experience with nordvpn is great. No issues, no complaints, and my experience has been the opposite of what people have posted here so far. Easy to use, fast connections, rarely ever get logged out/disconnected; and I use it basically 24/7.

Only thing I’ve noticed that doesn’t work the best is some features like kill switch or split tunneling. These things can be a bit wonky. Do wish split tunneling worked properly, but that’s the only thing negative I can say. Even though kill switch is not the best, it doesn’t matter too much because I rarely ever get disconnected anyways.

I do not like NordVPN but I don’t know what a better alternative is. By which I mean I just don’t understand all the details of how VPNs work so that I can make a better choice.

In any case, my NordVPN apps log me out all the time without any notice. I don’t know it’s happened unless I go and check to see if I’m still logged in. By extension, I have no faith in the kill switch. There’s no indication that it even exists beyond Nord just saying it does. I’ve never had my connection “killed” even when the VPN was very obviously disconnected.

And I tried to communicate all this to tech support, but talking to them was like talking to a wall. I don’t know if there’s a language barrier or what but I think of myself as a reasonably clear communicator and I’ve never gotten the sense they’ve even understood what the problems are. (Thereby turning customer service itself yet another problem.)

I plan to go elsewhere as soon as I figure out what service is better.

I went for proton VPN
Tried Nord but had issues on Android. If kept disconnecting.

Maybe it was just me, but proton works just fine on Android, Android tv and Linux.

I have both nord and surfshark. I’ve had great experiences with both. I’ve also had a few annoying experiences with both. Mostly good though.

No matter what type of product you’re buying, the decision to buy/not to buy depends on your needs. If NordVPN meets most of your needs (NordVPN features – more than a VPN | NordVPN), of course, you should give it a try. They have a 30-day money-back guarantee, so find out for yourself.

I’ve been using NordVPN for about a year with no major issues and I’m happy with my choice. I suggest you give it a try and take a decision by yourself, also they have a 30days money back guarantee so you are not risking anything.

NordVpn works great for me for my mobile, tv and laptop. No complain for me

I have used NordVPN for several years now and have never had a problem. The only thing I don’t like about Nord on Windows is there is no way of showing VPN connection time. (This is not the case on macOS where connection time is readily seen.)

ProtonVPN is great too.

Two years with Nord and no real complaints.

I’ve been using nord for around 3 years and have never had any problems, I’ve used it very little on windows but mostly use it on linux and sometimes Mac and can’t remember the last time I dropped a connection, always fast and reliable.

I found a code to get 5 years, I don’t remember exactly how much it was but it was under $100 and worth every penny IMO.

Just finished my initial 3 years, and signed up for another 3 years. Been very happy with the speed, and also lack of connection drops. Used the MicroCenter 3-year Nord VPN: Micro Center - NORD Security NordVPN 3-year VPN subscription RL-8311 (currently on sale for $99.99).

I’ve been using it for the last month or so. Haven’t had any issues from what I can tell. Everything has been smooth.

I bought Nord recently and it’s a nightmare. Causes constant issues with connecting. I’ve now removed it from my MacBook Pro and my iPhone and requesting my money back. Fed up with restarting and force quitting …: Also, forget trying to get US Netflix from UK it may work briefly on a mobile device but you cannot cast to your tv because it blocks you.
Best thing I did with Nord was delete it.

although I haven’t bought it, all I can suggest is:
don’t buy directly using your card, cancelling NordVPN subscription seems to be a impossible job, instead, use a 3rd-party payment provider.

I have not had any issues whatsoever with Nord. I have thought about what VPN I would go to if I left Nord. I finally decided on Mullvad VPN. Although you don’t hear about it much, it’s very focused on privacy.

NordVPN works great for me – as long as you use the native app based on VPN protocol:

https://openvpn.net/downloads/openvpn-connect-v3-windows.msi

https://www.wireguard.com/install/

DO NOT use NordVPN’s own app. It is full of bloatware and constant ads. If you use the VPN protocol app, the VPN itself stays out of your way and is practically invisible because you are not bombarded with ads.

Nord uses alot of system rescources and the UI is laggy.

I currently use Bitdefender VPN

For most people it is satisfactory but you cannot enable it in Linux via the command line easily as before. It makes you open a web browser.

I’ve used NordVPN for years. Solid product with really shit support. Keep it simple and you’ll be fine. Just don’t expect every feature to work as advertised.
