Hi everyone, I am having an issue with mapping a Sharepoint network drive at work. If I map it from my office, it doesn’t work when I am at home on VPN and vice versa. I could restore the connection by opening Sharepoint in Internet Explorer Mode in Edge but I dont want to keep doing that every time I switch work locations. If I map the drive at work and WFH the next day without reconnecting the drive, it works when I am back in the office and vice versa. I have already contacted my IT department about this but no luck yet. Would appreciate any ideas.
Token expiring, the network drive mapping is being depreciated, Use Shortcut to OneDrive for accessing SharePoint content via Windows File Explorer
I’d say you should look at bypassing/whitelisting o365 traffic in both your corp network and vpn. It’s likely triggering location change and may be continuous access evaluation causing the issue.
I would, but I need to generate shareable links to files in file explorer and the OneDrive path has the username. Wouldn’t the token expiring cause the connection to break regardless of network connection? I am finding that it only works on one network connection, either LAN or VPN, depending on which one it was setup on. Going back to the original network after the connection breaks on the “away” network restores the drive connection.
network drive mapping is being depreciated
Has been removed for years in the UI, but probably won’t be fully removed until 2026 at the earliest. There’s a bunch of stuff that still relies on the WebDAV backend, like SP Designer.
Not sure what to say, not a fan of either embedded permissions or using OneDrive as a company document mgmt tool
I hate it also, but that’s the hand I’ve been dealt lol
