Hi everyone I have a rule that routes my streaming devices (TV/firestick/Nvidia shield) via my VPN client (NordVPN). For some reason I was getting some strange errors on the BBC iplayer app so I created a routing via the standard WAN interface to bypass the VPN.
In case this is helpful for anyone I’ve attached the domains I used.
Hello! Im in the exact same position. Trying to work out how to bypass NordVPN on my devices for BBC iplayer.
I currently have a wireguard VPN client set up on the Firewalla and have added my Nvidia Shield to it. This works great but I get geo blocked on BBC iplayer, error 02062. As soon as I remove the vpn it works. Tried adding routes as you mentioned but still seems to go through the vpn. I can add NordVPN directly on the Shield and split tunnel just fine by excluding BBC iplayer, but I also have an Apple TV where I cannot split tunnel (also multiple other deivces, so really want it working on the Firewalla rather than set up on each device).
How have you set up your traffic to go to the VPN? I assume different to adding the device? Are you using “Route” to send all traffic to the VPN and then another “Route” to send just the BBC domain stuff to the IP?
I have a group of devices called streaming devices. I setup these rules to not use the VPN and instead to bypass to the domains listed.
