You can use a VPN to connect to mexico and you will then see membership prices in MXN. You can use your normal credit card to buy membership for MXN and it is way cheaper. Current it’s roughly $6.50 for a 1 month and $4.10 for a bond.
Many people are worried about bans for this, however I’ve been doing this for a year and others have for longer. I originally found out about it from a thread here.
Edit: Recently I’ve been getting PMs about this a decent amount for some reason so:
UPDATE August 2020: All my accounts are still completely fine and I have been paying this way the whole time.
A guy posted a spreadsheet of membership prices in different currencies, I think Brazil is 3,3 USD or something like that
I’m strongly against doing something like this as it stops companies from adjusting the price of a product to wealth of the region making it so that people from “lesser” countries cannot afford video games due to prices being the same as in US.
This is shady, and even if it wasn’t outright stated to be illegal, it clearly is. It’s also very easily trackable, since you are using your real credit card. Don’t be surprised when one day your account is locked until you pay 500$ worth of difference between the prices.
PSA: you can get banned for this
I did this with fortnite and argentina. Got the $100 v buck pack for like $27 iirc? I think a bit after they said theyd ban ppl for it though
Even cheaper and probably safer - RWT
Ahh last time I did this mexico was the cheapest that actually worked with a VPN and let you use a US credit card. Didn’t bother to check other countries this time.
Companies have no problem doing it in reverse though. Apple does this especially with new iPhones $999 usd in America and then in the UK £999 pounds which is 1300 bucks! Honestly screw large corporations chances are they don’t pay close to the taxes they should be so I’ll happily pay less if possible.
Well, they are certainly making up for it by charging $11 for everyone else
They could easily region lock accounts to IPs so if you bought a membership in Mexico you need to connect from Mexico, which would fix that issue. I wouldn’t do this if I had to be on my VPN connected to Mexico anytime I want to play.
I mean, and? Even if there’s risk involved, you’re still coming out basically net even. If you aren’t a dunce, paying the difference if they ever call you on it and decide to charge you the correct amount is not a big deal.
As I said earlier, I have been doing this a year across three accounts and I know many others that do this as well. It could easily be noticed and remedied. Honestly, I’d just stop playing it’s not that big of a deal. I’m certainly not going to drop all that cash now.
I’m happy to take a warning like a sensible company would do. There are no warnings at check out, no notices about regions, no info about this at all in general FAQs or guidelines. If they want to randomly ban me or lock me out I’m down to quit, I would imagine though it will be a warning. If they put out a statement that this wasn’t okay I’d happily stop and pay $11.
Also, it’s certainly not illegal, how would this break any laws?
PSA: Here’s a statement with no source
Well it seems SUPER easy for them to tell you’re doing this, so why haven’t any of my three accounts been banned for doing this for a year?
I’ve been doing this for more than 6 months already.
AFAIK Fortnite just started region locking accounts.
Certainly cheaper, in no way safer.
