Yesterday a csgo update came out that gave people in france an exclusive p250 x-ray (for 2.2€) that u need to open containers.
I’ve heard that alot of people saw Anomaly’s video and changed their store regions to France to get their p250
However, what he didnt tell u is that if u change your region to something else with the use of a VPN u could get your account suspended/deleted
Alot of people have another store region just fine and it usually goes well, and u will probably only get banned if u abuse markets.
Just be warned that you ARE breaking steam TOS and anything can happen, just wanted this out here since anomaly did not warn about what could happen if u do this.
It feels weird. We’re reaching a critical point now in online where our accounts hold high value both in terms of real world value and implied value from our attachment to the entertainment they provide.
I have a 16 year Steam account. I have a 12 year PSN account. Steam is probably valued at over £800 in resellable items alone, plus around £2000 in applications value. I have close to a similar value on PSN; a good 20 or so purchased games and 2 games every month from PS+…
I can see a critical point coming whereby our access to this volume…decades of purchases…can’t be withdrawn from us at a whim from companies who provide access to it. Losing Steam access due to use of VPN seems small to some but could be a massive loss, emotionally even, to others.
Yeah you COULD get banned, but if people have never been banned for exploiting store regions to personally get games cheaper, then they’re not going to ban people for using a VPN to get a weapon skin that has 0 value.
Keep in mind actually swapping the store is a big no-no, that being said just using a VPN to change your region won’t change your store. I just double checked it and I would have to manually change the store region to France, it still appears in USD to me
It’s hard for them to enforce, I doubt they do it at all since I have used a VPN to change my alt’s store location to Argentina (over the course of 2 minutes, mind you) and was never reprimanded.
