PSA: If you keep getting disconnected from a public WiFi network, look for “Auto-Login” If present, “Forget this network”, then connect again so that Auto-Login is not an option.
This just happened to me at Disneyland. 3 variants of iPhone 11, 2 would be disconnected from WiFi every time the phone would go into standby. After some troubleshooting I discovered that the 2 devices that would disconnect had the “Auto-Login” option - the other did not. Turning off Auto-Login did not solve the problem. The fix was forgetting the network, then connecting again so that Auto-Login did not appear as an option.
After thinking back, the 2 devices that had the problem were initially connected at the same location in the park, but different from from the 3rd device which was connected later in a different location in the park. So perhaps something with the initial access point that we connected to saved information to the device that Auto-Login was an option on this network?
My iPhone 11 keep disconnecting from my WiFi network at home every time the device would go into standby. Any suggestions? There’s no Auto-Login option.
Thank you for this useful information I had this problem and fixed the setting but I bet alot of people didn’t know this
Update: It’s now the 3rd day of Disney and all devices had to re-agree on the captive portal page. When first connecting, “Auto-Login” is present. But after forgetting then reconnecting (without getting redirected to the captive portal again), the Auto-Login option isn’t present.
Thank you for this. I was having this issue on my iPad Pro at school for the last few days and couldn’t figure out why it was doing it.
Thank god I was like oh shit
This actually worked for me. I kept getting disconnected from my work’s WiFi and having to spend the whole day with bad cell reception. Thanks for the tip!
