I get the attached message about being unable to connect to prime video, whenever I try watch ANYTHING on Prime Video on the firestick.
Firestick is connected and working, I can search and navigate prime video fine, it just won’t play videos.
Every other app works fine on the firestick
I’ve cleared cache/data
I’ve powered off both the router and firestick
I’ve tethered the firestick to my phone and it does the same thing - so it’s not a network issue
I’ve tried with a vpn connected
I’ve tried with a vpn not connected
Maybe you need to plug the stick to a computer and get the latest update? Just a thought.
I have an old laptop that doesn’t get updates anymore and Amazon prime has started not to work from time to time. I get a message that I need a newer update to the browser.
Odd. What does the home screen populate with? Should have a bunch of Prime shows listed. You might try a different video setting under settings. Can you log in on your phone? Same email as Amazon account?
I have the exact same problem on my son’s stick. All other apps work except Prime Video which gives that exact error.
Cleared cache, fully updated, etc. The only thing that worked was to factory reset, but that is a pain.
Now it happened on a 2nd FireTV stick, so about to go troubleshooting again. I do have NordVPN on these devices so it could be part of the problem, although with VPN off the issue remains.
Sorry to hear. Frustrating indeed. Maybe contact Amazon support? See what’s up. Maybe there’s something on their side going on, or not. I would give them a call, mail or whatever and see if it’s any use in keep trying.
OK, tried these steps this morning and its working for now. I suspect its NordVPN is the issue, so to isolate the issue I uninstalled NordVPN, as I also use the Nord meshnet. Restarted stick, switched to primary users profile and successfully started a Prime Video. Then switched to the other users profile and it continued to work.
Of course I want to put Nord back on but trying to figure out the root cause first. Let me know your results?
Is it pretty simple to update firmware from a laptop?
I have a barely used 4k firestick thats been shoved in a drawer for over a year and a bit and now it doesn’t want to load up properly and i can’t complete the setup sequence. I believe it’s missed a fare few updates. But i can’t get into the settings to reset.
don’t have enough to confirm but I also think meshnet is part of the issue within Nord, so even though VPN is off, Prime Video is being redirected through VPN. It may also depend if you doing split tunnelling or meshnet just being on while VPN off. Don’t know the first test for you, which worked for me is uninstall Nord VPN. I tried stopping it and leaving it installed before, no change to error. Uninstall worked. The the next step in install VPN and figuring out how it broke it.
