I am from India, a 3rd world country, and hence do not require VPN to get away from copyright notices. I am only searching for a free VPN with port forwarding to get away from CG - NAT which my ISP Jio utilizes. If no such service is available, then unfortunately I would have to become a leecher who can’t seed.
PIA is probably the closest youll get, its cheap compared to most if you dont want to spend 200$ for a 3 year plan, just take the month to month option.
Mullvad was great, its also cheap but you need Tailscale to portforward with it.
You can still seed if your router supports automatic port forwarding. Apparently, you’re stuck in the “torrenting only works with port forwarding” logical fallacy. Just use a bittorrent client that supports automatic port forwarding (like qBittorent). Problem solved.
Shitty experience. Routing is a terrible mess. Can’t play any games due to out of control ping. Hence switched to story based games. Wanted to try pirating but realized that I should also seed and not only leech, then found out that I was behind a CG-NAT and the port forwarding option in router page is there just to fool you. To open ports you need to pay 100rs per month for static IP and then go though hell and below to convince their customer care number that you actually require to open some ports. They do not even understand anything and just tell me to restart the WiFi when I began getting sky-high pings, like I haven’t already tried that.
Their person that came to fix the issue just factory reset the router and ran a speed test in ookla and told me it was resolved. Then when I tried to play games at night, I once again experienced those fkin 600+ pings and had to rage quit. That stupid person didn’t even know what I was talking about and just showed me the speed test result.
And the worst thing is that I can’t even switch ISPs because my father thinks it is a very reliable and big company and it is very cheap as well. Day by day, I curse ambani so much for this weird sht he has done. Randomly websites get banned. This ISP is only good if you want your child to use online coachings like PW, Unacademy etc. And browse YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Get into anything more advanced , and then you’ll realize how fked you are. They even had the gall to ban reddit many times.
My router shows it but I can’t be sure if it is actually really there or of the setting is just for show. Because the setting for port forwarding was just a fake showpiece.
Confidently spreading bs I see. What’s even “automatic port forwarding”? UPnP/NAT-PMP? This doesn’t work unless VPNs support it, which fewer than a handful do.
Bro i had same experience in india no one knows about tech lol
No Jio employee knows what Port Forwarding is, i even don’t understand how this company even standing out.
My fnd purchased Jio airfiber where for 30 mbps cost is 599+107(GST) = 706.82
But my Local ISP giving me 50mbps download speed and 100mbps upload for 500rs
Also jioairfiber completly depends on cell towers which contains very high latency so even if you purchase 1Gpbs plan it wont works for gaming or office works(RDP)
What i suggest is checking if an local ISP available in your area because you wont pay him GST and he gives internet more cheaper that these shity companies
Always remember Speed != latency
Even 10mbps wired optic fiber is 100 times better than airfibers
Also if you aren’t using airfiber problem might be because jio tries to congest 10000 people in an single public ip
Jio only know how to earn money also same with airtel and its even more worse than jio
Because the setting for port forwarding was just a fake showpiece.
I don’t know what you mean by “fake showpiece”. Either your router supports automatic port forwarding, or it doesn’t. There isn’t anything “fake” about the technology.
This isn’t accurate. Torrenting is blocked by some VPNs - - this has zero relevance to manual or automatic port forwarding. VPNs that support torrenting must have ports open in order for torrenting to work. A VPN that supports torrenting can block manual port forwarding, but not automatic port forwarding. Mullvad blocks manual port forwarding, but that has zero effect on routers with automatic port forwarding enabled.
The problem is that automatic port forwarding may not be properly configured on a given router. Torrenting on Mullvad won’t work with such a router. However, that doesn’t mean Mullvad is blocking automatic port forwarding. The root of the misunderstanding is that the average internet user doesn’t understand how port forwarding works and/or why port forwarding is necessary for certain apps. Port forwarding is required for torrenting whether the port forwarding is manual or automatic - - both types work if a VPN allows manual port forwarding. However, manual port forwarding doesn’t work UNLESS a VPN allows it. That doesn’t necessarily mean that a VPN which doesn’t allow manual port forwarding is also blocking torrenting - - that may or may not be the case. It depends upon the particular VPN. I can assure anyone reading this that VPNs which allow torrenting also allow automatic port forwarding.
Same LMAO. Just yesterday IPV4 was down in jio fiber(not just me). Like it was so weird and I was unable to understand why only YT, chrome and play store was working. Then after hours of brutal mind-fuck trying to somehow get the internet back to working, I found out that IPv4 was down and only IPv6 was working. And weirdly enough, the very second I messaged my friend on signal that this might be the reason for this madness, BOOM !!! IPv4 is back. That very fucking second that I pressed enter, IPv4 was back.
Overall this is only good for the most basic of internet usage. And I can’t even do anything to change the ISP cause it fills all the requirement for my parents and because they gave that android STB.
By “fake showpiece” I meant quite literally that. It is the default router that you get when you subscribe and sadly for us, you can’t change to a different router because bridge mode is not supported and everything(including the modem) is inside the router itself. You can search “jiofiber router” for knowing what I am talking about.
There is an option in the admin page that allows you to do port forwarding, but it unfortunately doesn’t work no matter how you configure it. It is hidden behind a paywall and only the customer care guys can open a port for you but that requires going to hell and beyond. Because those idiots don’t know a single thing, they just know to tell to reboot the router or purchase a static IP. That’s it.
Also, I am behind a CG-NAT, so as far as I know, I can’t seed properly.
Amazing, you keep talking and looping about “automatic port forwarding” without explaining what it is and spreading completely wrong information. Many of your router configurations do not apply on a VPN tunnel, but apparently you’re not even aware of this.
