I booted my PC and VPN like any other day. This time, and every other time no matter the server, is making my PC so slow. The mouse and keyboard become unresponsive and laggy. Inputs take at least 15 seconds to recognize. The mouse moves like it’s drunk.
I confirmed it was Nord because when I quit the application through the system tray it’s totally fine. I have tried connecting to multiple servers, and have tried reinstalling Nord entirely.
I’ve not downloaded anything that could have been compromised. The last things I’ve downloaded were on Steam
This has been happening to me too since some time last week. For me, it works when first opening, but changing servers seems to trigger it. Closing Nord down and reopening sometimes fixes it, but sometimes I have to restart the computer.
Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn’t stopped the issue.
I’m new to this and noticed similar issues when browsing websites. I believe that some of this may be due to the Nordpass Password extension in web browser. Try disabling that and see if that helps.
I just want to check in and say this is happening to me as well. Only noticed it last night as I don’t often connect but always have Nord start with my PC. Anyway when trying to open the app, or sometimes I make it to the Quick Connect stage, it slows my PC down to about 10%. one out of 10 times I can kill the process with Task Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times. I chatted with support but they never gave me a ticket number. Waiting on their response.
Wanted to add my peice as well. Been using nord for 3 years without a problem. Recently when I’ve been connecting it’s been adding a another lan adpater and making it so my pc becomes unusable. Almost like it has a virus. All issues went away when I un-installed nordVPN from my laptop. App on my phone has been working fine
I was about to post this. I am experiencing the same. Totally uninstalled NordVPN and the problem was gone. On reinstalling it, the problem came back. Specifically, to trigger it, I need to move my mouse on the NordVPN app and then the trouble starts. 7800X3D, 4070 Ti Super, Logitech G Hub (G502 Hero), Razer Synapsefor Blackwidow Chroma, DDR5 Trident Z5 Neo 6000 MHz, and ofcourse running W11.
I installed an older version of NordVPN and to prevent it from updating, I disabled the update service in Windows Services, blocked update servers with outbound firewall rules, and deleted update-related files in the program folder to ensure it doesn’t auto-update to the new buggy version.
yup, still a massive Problem. For me it often happens when I connect to my work VPN while Nord is (unconnected) running in the background, or after I drop my work VPN and then connect to Nord. Sometimes it also happens just because, it feels.
Still happening. Realised it was Nord when i turned my internet off and it instantly become usable again. Almost like they are backdooring us or something lol like virtually unusable. Couldn’t even use the search feature on windows. Was nothing showing up in task manager as using a lot. Only suspicious thing was 50% of my disk being used with literally nothing showing as using it. Closed Nord and all went back to normal and disk usage went back to 0%.
How did you do this? All newer installers auto-download the latest version and older versions do not allow me to login. Which version you ended up with?

It won’t show up as CPU usage. You need a program like DPC Monitor. When you connect to the VPN, watch the program carefully. Furthermore do you have an VR devices/headset plugged in?
The solution to your problem, more than likely, requires going into the bios.
Edit: To elaborate further you may need more VDDG IOD voltage, or inversely, less pressure on the IOD by swapping to PCIE Gen 3 for the GPU. This is assuming your DPC is spiking.
