Opera Gx gud or bad?

How good is Opera GX in 2023 ? Seems pretty good, especially the baked in VPN/proxy. Ignoring the privacy stuff that happened back then.

Honestly, besides the Limiter which might be handy (maybe, maybe not), I don’t think it brings anything else that is that special to the table compared to other existing browsers tbh.

If you like the browser’s aesthetic, sure go for it. Besides that, I think there is better out there, but this is just my personal opinion, do give it a try and see if you like it

Its ok spyware browser for PC.

I mean, if you don’t care that Opera is owned by a Chinese company then go for it, I used Opera GX for a few months until YouTube started to crack down on ad blockers, so I just switched to Firefox.

love it been using it forever easy fast smooth no issues

The VPN is fake I think

I wouldn’t touch anything made by opera unless they personally pay me 1 million dollars a day.

Opera (company) - Wikipedia Opera owner, Beijing Kunlun Tech Co., Ltd. (Zhou Yahui) & Keeneyes Future Holdings Inc (Zhou Yahui).

https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3987506

“All Chinese companies, public or private, are required to have a member of the CCP on staff to hand down official party edicts. In addition, many companies have an internal CCP committee that comprises part of the governance structure.”

“The Chinese government has likely taken a significant interest in that data, which could be useful in targeting dissidents at home and for blackmail abroad. As a Chinese company, there is likely nothing Kunlun could do to prevent the government from accessing user data.”

What Chinese company?

I have heard about it being a proxy kind of stuff, but not confirming it

bro yur not from china no one care about The Chinese government

Some people say that Opera GX is owned by some Chinese company but some other people say that Opera GX is owned in Norway.

Beijing Kunlun Tech Co., Ltd. (Zhou Yahui)[3]

Keeneyes Future Holdings Inc (Zhou Yahui)[3]

it is what says on Wikipedia

I think you need to educate yourself about how the CCP operates.

Headquarters in Norway. Proof of “Chinese company” has yet to be established. -Even if? - So what?! Is China in cahoots with your country?

I’d love to debate the privacy advocates. - I’ve seen most of your silly arguments (destroyed by common sense). Don’t just down-vote! -Bring them!

The company is located in Norway……with a Chinese investment firm as the parent company. Their Eula also clearly states that all info they gather can be shared with their parent Chinese company. So for all intents and purposes, you can think of the Norwegian company as a thin veneer to try and obfuscate the fact that all data can potentially be accessed by the parent Chinese company.

-Couldn’t find ‘kunlun’, ‘zhou’, or ‘keen’ on that page. -Even if, Wiki is not authoritative.

Not my first rodeo. I have yet to see someone substantiate the claim.

When you say yet to be established…….you mean aside from the fact that a Beijing based private equity firm bought them in 2016 - which is completely public knowledge?

for me I never understood that people accept that Google and all big or other american company 's to takes all their private lives / confidentiality and without forgetting that Google is one of the biggest spyware in the world but when a Chinese investor invests in a company everyone becomes suppisuer if this is the case you have Tencent which owns riot games epic games so why are you still playing your favorite game? and the list goes long and long so ppl accept that my data is sent to the US but I do not accept that the product that I use is held by a Chinese investor. if you go deeper in this case your pc that people use to post on reddit and your gpu’s are from china even ur wifi router lol …
