No one used the school wifi

When I was in high school smart phones weren’t a thing but we had tools to easily bypass the internet filtering on school computers. Plus there was a shared drive that people hid game files in. We had some pretty good LAN parties in school computer labs.

It may be that the restrictions are requested by a level beyond the school so it tends to be a bit outta touch

My school somehow managed to block their own website.

One kid managed to get a teachers password for the blocker we were using and changed permissions for half the class, even allowed a mate of mine to use soap2day

I was the first class at my highschool to use laptops. The IBM "stink"pad. All of us instantly became proxy pros. Some kids did it for the porn. The rest of us did it to kill each other in Halo during study hall.

I sat at the front of the class.

one kid in highschool pirated god of war for psp from the computer lab’s PCs those mfs do not hold power over the truly unhinged mind

Life…uh, uh, uh…finds a way

I don’t think there are any plans that give you infinite Hotspot. At least not reasonably paced speed that would allow for anything like internet games

I just remoted to my home PC and played games from there.

We just use the school wifi with vpn and it works fine

Wow, I am way too old for this tweet.

Oh man, just had a flashback to getting freewebs banned after using it to make a flash game site for people. That was after all the Chinese proxy sites we could find were blocked too. Goodn’t times.

I’d never trust strangers to not do something terrible on my wifi.

I was in high school around the time mobile VPNs became a thing. From what I’ve heard through the grapevine of younger friends who have younger friends who have younger friends, I still don’t think they found a way to stop kids from using them to bypass their restrictions.

There were teacher folders they never used in my schools system that anyone could look into. Someone put the entire ROM of a Mario game in our history teachers folder. I shared my Minecraft files on the School PCs for a class I was a student helper for. Every day I would hang up my username and password so they could log in and play (taking it down afterwards). Some of these people would have never tried the game if I never did that due to it just not being their style. I of course stopped this sharing when the year was over but it was fun while it lasted. For my final act I put the files for the Powder game on the school server in a folder that was never changed. All of this however was Purged in 2019 when the school servers were wiped to account for a merge.

Do they not just have the same rules millennials did of not having your phone out during class?

K12 IT here, that’s why its account based.

Look up whatever you want on your cell phones I don’t care, but the second its on a school device don’t think just because you’re not on the Wi-Fi doesn’t mean it’s not tracked.

Kids will do this and then wonder why they’re failing.

I illegally downloaded countless gigs of songs from Napster my Jr. year in HS. 1999-2000
