if this was another VPN, everyone could get the piece of the pie.
Proton only does a special promo… one time of the year and current paid customer can’t be part of it.
but wait you can get 1gb bonus storage… yeah I would rather have the discount lol
Thats nice but i’m currently subscribed to another vpn. Honestly, if 5 per month is the price when my subscription is over i will do the switch. If not, sorry but i can get Mullvad at that price point.
Pretty disappointing how you treat loyal paid customers. Storage is nice but money talks.
For anyone wondering why, it’s always about the bottom line. Some insight: I work for a cable/internet provider, and the sales department puts customers in one of 4 categories:
new acquisitions: customers who have never had your service, or did a long time ago
current customers
save offers: threatening to leave, or have already accepted an offer from a competitor
winbacks: they just left within the past week or two, so you want to win them back
New acquisitions are the hardest to persuade, so they cost the company the most money, and get the best offers and discounts. Winbacks are a high risk, because they called your bluff; if it’s been more than 2 weeks since they canceled service, they are much harder to get back. Save offers are usually people bluffing about canceling to get a discount, so the company will toss you a bone - a small discount or gift to appease you.
Current customers are pretty worthless; most people hate change and companies know this, so they get the worst prices of all.
There are also sometimes “legacy customers”, who are grandfathered into an old, deprecated legacy plan. They often have an unbelievably good deal or benefits which are no longer offered. Companies usually try hard to entice legacy customers to join a newer plan that profits them more. ProtonVPN doesn’t have new plans yet. But since it’s 4 years old and has gained significant market share, I’d expect new plans are rolling out in the coming 6 months which provide fewer benefits and/or cost more money.
As a ProtonMail yearly subscriber, I feel Proton is like any other Internet Service Providers who put all the benefits to lure new customer. And utilise existing users for granted.
I’m an existing customer and I emailed [email protected] asking for the promo and after three emails back and forth they agreed to honor it if i buy a full year which i don’t mind.
What is the most effective way to give a new user two years of ProtonVPN for Christmas (with this offer)? Do gift cards purchased from the shop work for this deal and if so, can multiple gift cards be used? Does anyone happen to know?
