My Norton suite blocked the Pilots Trade Network website. Is there a real problem with the site or just an over-sensitive protection suite?

Just like the title, I wanted to see what the PTN was about but Norton flagged it as a problem. “This is a known dangerous webpage. It is highly recommended that you do NOT visit this page.” to be precise.

All “dangerous” puns aside, is there anything at PTN that I should really be worried about?

Probs not, but I’d get rid of Norton just in case.

The problem is you are running Norton.

Norton is the worse anti virus you can get, IT personal remove it for a reason

Worked in IT for a bit. I run my own internet-facing servers in my homelab and provide tech support for family and friends. Chuck Norton in the bin.

If you’re on Windows 10 or 11, Defender is all you need as far as active scanning is concerned. Many modern browsers also check for malicious websites and do so as well or better than Norton, so that’s another layer of protection that Norton just does redundantly for you – and poorly with a marked impact on system performance.

Over-sensitive protection. Join their discord server, it is more up-to-date.

I can assure you the website is perfectly safe, so long as you’re going to https://pilotstradenetwork.com/

I’d throw McAfee in there for first place, but Norton is definitely a close second.

We DO try to keep the website up to date. Of course it’s not always easy, fdev keeps changing things!

Well windows 10 and 11 have native antivirus programs. You do not need third party software anymore.

i still use malwarebytes, it hasnt let me down yet

We’ve really only used Malwarebytes for spot scans. On my personal computers, I’ve been running without an antivirus now for at least a decade without any issues. For active protection, the built-in Windows Defender is all you really need (unless you visit questionable sites and download weird software on the regular).

quite true, but given micro$oft’s current…shall we say, foibles, i would prefer to stay with something i trust~ that and noscript for firefox, and ublock origin~

Fair. Lol. I guess as far as impact on your system goes, Malwarebytes isn’t too bad. I’d still recommend Defender for most people unless they do a lot of risky stuff or have concerns like yours.
