I purchased a lifetime subscription through StackSocial/StackCommerce way back in 2016. At the time, it seemed like the process was to email in to renew the subscription every 5 years on expiry. I opened a ticket to do so and was re-directed to StackCommerce to find “alternatives”. Is the lifetime subscription no longer valid?
From what I can tell from posts in other forums, resolution to this issue has been difficult (spanning months) with inconsistent results.
After some back and forth, StackSocial has authorized a 5 year renewal, as PureVPN does not have a lifetime renewal code. They have sent me a response in writing, that I will have to request a renewal every 5 years to StackSocial, and will be able to renew at no charge - as was my understanding at the beginning. Thanks to u/PureVPNSupport for helping resolve this issue. I have checked my account and it has been renewed for an additional 5 years.
Hi u/PureVPNSupport, same deal with me. Purchased a lifetime plan Nov 23, 2016 and was told all I had to do was email [email protected] to renew for an additional 5 years free of charge. Stack Commerce support is now telling me that PureVPN no longer offers a lifetime subscription and they are trying to move me over to KeepSolid VPN. I’m happy with PureVPN and I expect the deal we made 5 years ago to be honoured. Please help.
PS - I also submitted a ticket with PureVPN Support yesterday about this. Ticket # 1784392
In the same boat here. As others here, I was told to contact StackCommerce by PureVPN. Waiting for their reply but as it seems, I’m init for a bs offer for random service and already not interested.
Hopefully u/PureVPNSupport can help me out in staying with PureVPN. I’ve been really happy with it for the past 5 years!
So I just went through this experience when my PureVPN “lifetime” subscription lapsed. I first put in a ticket with PureVPN and they instructed me to submit a ticket to Stackcommerce. After doing so, like with others, Stackcommerce told me they could not do the “lifetime” subscription for PureVPN and offered me an alternative, KeepSolid VPN. I declined the alternative at which point they offered me a one-time 2-year extension on the condition I was waiving any future extensions. I again declined, at which point they escalated the ticket. I was just informed that I would be getting a 5-year extension and could get additional 5-year extensions for the lifetime of the product.
Here is the specific language I used after they offered the “one-time 2-year extension” that got the ticket escalated:

No. Stackcommerce agreed to provide access to a service for which I paid an agreed-upon price. That contract was offered and accepted in 2017. You accepted my payment and began performance in 2017. The terms were a lifetime license for PureVPN services to be made available to me. Thus far, we are 5 years into the lifetime service offering. To attempt to change the terms of the arrangement now after having been accepted and partially-performed is in violation of both contract and consumer laws in pretty much every state in the US, including my own. While there certainly are times in which the terms of a contract can be altered, you have not met any such conditions. You are attempting a unilateral change without offering additional consideration. By offering an alternative service, you are effectively arguing impossibility, however no such impossibility exists: you can still provide me with the PureVPN service, you simply are choosing not to.
I do not accept the so-called offer to breach our agreement. The original license you provided me was a 5-year term. I expect another 5-year PureVPN license now and every 5 years until such time as I choose to no longer continue the service.
I hope this helps others. Clearly based on this thread there are a number who are in the same boat, and it is disappointing to see that they are attempting to shaft people, but maybe if enough insist on them following through they’ll stop jerking people around by default.
u/PureVPNSupport, I’m having the same issue. I’ve emailed Pure VPN and Stack Social support with so far no luck and being told to use an alternative VPN service. I paid for a lifetime subscription which I have in black and white in my order history. I’m only asking for what I paid for I’m not sure what the big deal is as I’m not dead yet lol!
Glad to see I’m not alone…although I hate we have to go through this! Like you all i contacted PureVPN and was directed to StackCommerce. They are suggesting i move to Keepsolid. I am arguing back that they promised to extend it if I contacted them priot to expiration. Yet here we are!
Hey u/understudybiff, the lifetime subscription is still valid for users who have already purchased it before. As you’ve mentioned that you’ve already initiated a ticket, can I ask what the ticket number is?
I’ll get my team on this right away and they should be able to sort things out with their assistance in no time!
My “lifetime” subscription via StackSocial is due to renew 2022-01-19. I also understood that contacting PureVPN support was the correct renewal path.
If that is not the case, how does PureVPN propose to service these lifetime subscriptions that PureVPN has sold via an affiliate if that affiliate ceases trading?
I also purchased a PureVPN lifetime subscription from Stacksocial before and would now set to expire within a month, I also need assistance for another multi-year extension.
I already contacted Stacksocial thru e-mail. But if someone from PureVPN can already help me in extending my lifetime subcription for free, then I’ll appreciate it. Thanks.
BTW. Does anyone here successfully received their recent PureVPN lifetime sub renewal/extension for free? Did you receive it from Stacksocial or did you just contact PureVPN rep directly?
I am having the same problem. Stack Social has been of no help other than to offer VPN Unlimited to me. PureVPN support is telling me that Stack Social has to send them an internal message for them to renew my subscription but Stack Social isn’t responding.
I just tried sending a private message to u/PureVPNSupport but was notified that they don’t accept private messages and to trying chatting with them. Nobody was available using chat?
I’m about to go through the same thing with StackSocial.
Seems like they are really trying to avoid these requests as they are trying to get me to go to a different VPN. I wonder if it’s because I used the word ‘lifetime’ and not ‘5 year renewal’
Hopefully I can sort it out through them before needing to get additional support from here.
I’m having the same issue now with StackSocial. They’re only offering the alternative VPN service in exchange and ignoring my questions about authorizing another 5 year renewal.
yes! Having the same issue with StackSocial/StackCommerce deal i got with PureVPN. I have sent you a DM u/PureVPNSupport if you can help me out. I would prefer to stay instead of the alternative offered
I am in the same basket as others having purchased a lifetime subscription through StackSocial 26 Nov 2016. PureVPN has been a quality service for me throughout the years and I would expect it to be honored.
I am in the same situation where my PureVPN lifetime subscription is due for its 5 years renewal. When I reached out to StackSocial support, they only offer the KeepSolid VPN but I have rejected. I opened a ticket to PureVPN support but they direct me back to StackSocial. Now I am stuck between the two companies. From what I have read in this post, some people has no issue to renew the PureVPN license for another 5 years with PureVPN support’s help. Would PureVPN u/PureVPNSupport able to help me to renew the subscription?
Hi u/PureVPNSupport, same prob here. I purchased a lifetime subscription of PureVPN via Stacksocial in 2017 and was told all I had to do was email [email protected] to renew for an additional 5 years free of charge. Stack Commerce support is now telling me via email that PureVPN no longer offers a lifetime subscription and they are trying to move me over to KeepSolid VPN. NO! I want the deal we made with PureVPN 5 years ago to be honoured. Please help me out here! I also submitted a ticket with PureVPN Support about this. Ticket #1792607
I was happy to find this thread to know that I’m not alone in this and there’s hope of a proper resolution. Like others have mentioned, StackSocial tried to sell me on Keepsolid Unlimited VPN as an alternative, but the service is just not as good as PureVPN (no split tunneling, limited P2P support with the threat of throttling, etc).
After i pushed back, they offered me a 2-year extension on PureVPN with the warning that i would “…be agreeing to waive any future renewal obligations by both StackCommerce and PureVPN.” Not cool. That’s not what i paid for.
I sent a note to the PureVPNSupport MOD and i’m hoping for the best!
I am going through the same hassle, after reaching out to PureVPN I was told to put a ticket in to Stackcommerce but they also mentioned their team can help set you up with alternate options. What do you mean alternate options? Are they purposely trying to get rid of the supporters who initially bought into PureVPNs service? With all these issues, you would think things would be resolved faster but I don’t foresee that happening and from the other comments here as it seems like things are trending in the wrong direction. I hope I am wrong on this but if PureVPN is already stating alternative options I am worried that they are going to push back and try to offer a 2 year activation or offer a different VPN service from the posts of others in this thread. We bought a lifetime subscription 5 years ago and want to claim this service because that is what we paid for. Not some other service, not different terms regarding the length of service, but the original terms. I have recommended PureVPN to others throughout the past few years but a company that doesn’t stick to their word, I could not in the future recommend. PureVPN, make this right.
Below is my email response from PureVPN:
