L2TP VPN suddently stopped working

Hi,

VPN connection was still working last Friday but now I am getting the error message:

The network connection between your computer and the VPN server could not be established because the remote server is not responding.

AFAIK no changes were made to our connection at home. My colleagues don’t have any issue connecting to our VPN, only me.

I have performed the troubleshooting steps provided in the UBNT article:

Still I am getting the error message

At wits end with regards to diagnosing where the problem might be. Would like to reach out to the community and ask for everyone’s feedback on how to resolve the matter.

Have you restated the USG? L2TP VPN’s on Unifi are really bad and buggy for ages. You may want to. Move to a dedicated VPN server and use NAT

It happened to me too. I did some minor debugging using the logs and it was the RADIUS server not responding. I don’t know why it would stop functioning all of the sudden. Didn’t debug it further since then.

Thanks u/retrogamer230787! I am willing to try anything at this point. All other users are able to connect but its worth a try. If its not working, restart :slight_smile:

Thanks u/vegaforce, gonna try that out. Not sure how to check the logs though. Can you point me on the right direction with regards to checking on the log entries?

I am no expert but it seems for the failed connection it couldn’t verify the key. I would delete the VPN and re-create it and try again (on both the USG and the remote device).
