Kill switch auto activating?

Just upgraded to plus, and every time I try to connect to any server my kill switch fires and I lose internet entirely. I’ve tried disabling it but even then it says kill switch activated whenever i try to quick connect. Anyone else face this problem? I’ve tried restarting both the app and my computer but no luck. A little frustrated since I just paid and now it won’t work. Thanks in advance.

Try to log off and log in again. This problem happened to me after I reactivated my subscription, apparently it’s a bug in the app.

As far as I can tell, your kill switch is doing its job.
ProtonVPN isn’t secure. Lately it has been leaking my ip address every 2 minutes which means when you get your connection working, your kill switch will still continue to activate. Even now, on my phone with kill switch enabled, I am getting “your connection has been interrupted” messages, and trivial message “this site is insecure” for sites like Google.com. If I hadn’t placed a firewall killswitch rule or used the killswitch in the android app, I would have never known.

I’ve been wrestling with this problem for a little while now. I tried it on my NAS, on my router, and my phone with the same result. Whatever is causing the issue, it’s definitely sever-side.

God only knows the effect this is having in conflict countries.

I’m at the point now that I’m not using them and thinking about not renewing my subscription because I am not paying to have that issue and for servers to be too heavily used, slow, and unreliable.

Just subscribed 30m ago. Now im unsubscribing. This is just stupid, yes as long as it does not work as intended it is stupid! I will be making videos about it to expose the scam, im so annoyed😡

Are you on mobile data on Android 13 by chance?

I just upgraded to Ultimate and tried Proton VPN. Kill switch activated on first attempted connection. No joy with all the usual fixes. It just won’t work. I have submitted a report. I hope they get back to me PDQ. Thankfully I haven’t terminated my previous VPN provider.

Ah yes with such accusations you really should add more information.

Negative, sorry I should have mentioned this problem is on Windows.

The stupid nonsense does not work, dont mislead people

Did you try turning off Kill Switch in the native client (in the Countries tab)?

Does the same issue persist if you try to connect to an individual server instead of using Quick Connect?

What servers in particular have you tried connecting to?

Have you tried changing to another protocol to see if you’ll experience the same: https://protonvpn.com/support/how-to-change-vpn-protocols/?
