A few weeks ago, I was playing a game and got a popup in the middle of playing about Kaspersky VPN being installed and ready . The pop-up got me killed ingame, and it’s also something I never even asked for. Whole program was installed without warning.
5 minutes ago, I got a prompt from Kaspersky about needing a pc restart. Now after I restarted, it installed “Safe Money” and added an extension to Chrome.
What’s up with Kaspersky? Every few weeks, it forces you to install another service. Every few days, it gives you a pop-up reminder about paid services you can purchase.
This is REALLY intrusive, shady, and questionable.
I don’t hate it enough yet to spend hours trying to remove it completely from my system, since after googling about it, there’s tons of people who can’t even remove kaspersky.
I’m posting here mostly in case somebody might warn me that Kaspersky was recently sold and is no longer safe to be used. Because for the past few months, Kaspersky feels like a virus rather than a helpful program.
Interesting. I never had the program re-install anything. It originally during install, installed some items but once I removed them, they were never re-installed. Also Bitdefender and many other AV’s do this by default this days. Still isn’t as annoying as O365 installing bunch of Office programs I will never use.
Try to re-install it with a new installer.
Kaspersky somehow stopped me from being able to access the website that I needed to use for my university’s coursework. Bye Kapersky.
I can do a lot of shit with computers. I could not for the hell of me figure that out.
“installed “Safe Money” and added an extension to Chrome”
As far as I know these are part of the program (Web protection). I have Kaspersky Internet Security and have Safe Money and a Chrome extension installed too.
I did turn off promotional notifications, and I still get pop-ups, and I still get random programs installed without consent. It’s worrying
Some of the notifications aren’t the windows kind, they’re literally pop-ups directly produced by kaspersky. I do appreciate your help though!
