Hello! I was wondering what are some of your favorite websites/applications that you can only get with a Japanese VPN for learning Japanese. This could be movies (other than Netflix), reading manga, ipad games etc. Thanks!
You don’t need a VPN to use it, but Book walkers Japanese website is amazing. They often have a whole bunch of manga or light novels on sale (sometimes they give the first volume out for free). At the moment I have close to 100+ different books and for most of those, I haven’t spent a dime. I really recommend it! Also, I definitely look into https://www.nicovideo.jp/. It’s basically a Japanese only youtube (kinda like BiliBili for the Chinese). However, you do need to use a VPN for this one. Since some of the more recent content (such as new anime episodes) are region locked to Japan only. Hope this helps!
Bookwalker does region lock some of their content. Granted it’s mostly licensing tie-ins and 18+ material, but there are also some regular deals and collections that are only available from a Japan address too so it’s worth it to use a VPN on the site. Once you buy a book you can read it from anywhere so you don’t need to worry about paying for something you can lose access to.
