ISP doesn’t recognize home network on VPN. Is there a solution?

I have my TV and Firestick going through the VPN to Ashurn VA. The ISP doesn’t recognize that I’m still on my home network. Is there a way around this?

What is your ISP doing in your network?
Either way tv and firestick exit the tunnel outside of the ISPs juristiction.

Maybe I should be asking a different question. On my firestick I would like to seed all traffic to the VPN except for Xfinity/Comcast traffic. Can I do this via a route.

Let me ask a different way. On the firestick I have Xfinity stream, netflicks and Hulu. I would like all traffic except Xfinity on VPN. If Xfinity traffic isn’t on the VPN I should get all channels.

Without VPN Xfinity recognizes that I’m on my home network and I get local tv. Through vpn Xfinity thinks I’m not on the home network and channels are then limited.

This is what I do for the times when I wanted all traffic except my “TV app” to go through a VPN and have the “TV” traffic route through my ISP since it only works on their network. I had to inspect flows and come up with a list, most being wildcards. Using the web UI, you can create a custom list then apply that as a route to the device, or whole network. I chose whole network for that list.

Got it. Thank you. Much appreciated.

are you VPN into your home in Ashurn VA (from a far away place)? and after you VPN there, your ISP think you are not in Ashurn VA?

Home is in Baltimore. When I connect to Xfinity without vpn they recognize that I’m on my home network and I get all the Xfinity streaming tv channels. When I add the Firestick and tv to the VPN and connect to the server is ashburn va Xfinity doesn’t recognize that I’m on my home network and I don’t get challenge limited by geo being in Baltimore

I’m not on vpn from ashburn to Baltimore. From home to WAN

The issue is most definitely that Xfinity has your VPNs IP on a blocklist. There’s nothing you can do other than switch to a vpn-server or provider which evades this by switching or adding IPs often enough.

Isn’t this expected? Xfinity doesn’t know anything other than you are on some network in VA when you’re using the VPN and launch their app. What is your desired outcome?

I think the OP’s situation may not be about a VPN, but more about which networks can be streamed via the Xfinity when away from home. Available networks to livestream in-home and out-of-home with Xfinity Stream - Xfinity Support
