i just installed it and it looks like shit, and it just deleted Kaspersky
is it just rebranded Kaspersky or a real partner?
i can’t find any reviews on this AV either
edit: the app seems unfinished. its barebones
clicking “profile” leads to “about”
clicking “performance” shows the previous scan reports
“view info” under “your pc is protected” doesn’t even work at all
it looks like Kaspersky went to India and asked them to whip up an antivirus in a week
edit 2: ultra av’s website says they have reviews from trustpilot and stuff, but the reviews seem to be only for ultra VPN, so maybe its just a VPN company that made this?
seems like a piece of shit to me, half the software doesn’t even work. gonna install bitdefender instead. it deleted about 3 files immediately without prompting me at all
I would suggest you move to Eset.
Looks like you have to log in to even do anything…wondering the same thing, if I should even mess with it, and hoping it’s not too problematic to remove this or the VPN that was auto installed. I have Revo Uninstaller but I read on another thread that someone had trouble completely uninstalling the remnants.
I really don’t like how this app just installed by itself. i didn’t agree to install it, It just appeared on my computer.
Its a piece of crap, same thing happened to me. Installed itself and replaced Kaspersy. On top of that it was causing my PC to blue screen and crash. Uninstalled and the crashes stopped. POS.
Update: I got Bitdefender
The UltraAV executable is signed by “MAX SECURE SOFTWARE INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED”. It seems that is exactly what happened.
It’s like asking a parent company if the subsidiaries is worth it. Know that even though it may have been manage by the parent company or through a partnership, each AV vendors has their own management decisions to comply. This is why UltraAV isn’t worth the take even though it’s recommended by Kaspersky. I would only incorporate an exception if it’s “managed” by Kaspersky. Otherwise, you’re better off with other security vendors. For instance, ESET - Bitdefender - Sophos.
same here. i had a subscription good until January so i guess i’ll look for something comparable cost-wise…
Yeah so I can’t even watch YouTube anymore on my browser and I’m pretty sure it’s because of this ultra AV shit:grinning_face_with_big_eyes: It’s been fine up until tonight when I came home after work to my computer not playing any video at first and then Kaspersky started uninstalling itself in front of my eyes and installing ultra AV instead. Anyone know how I might be able to fix this? I can play videos on some websites now but still not YouTube… I’m thinking maybe it deleted something in my computer it wasn’t supposed to which is just lovely
(As I’ve seen some of you say I will also be using my common sense as an antivirus until I can find something new
)
I just want to say R.I.P kaspersky best antivirus I have eved had. Didn’t have a single problem in 15years.
Just received my credit card statement and found a subscription charge to Ultra AV for $149.99. Really, really liked Kaspersky but am disappointed that they would provide my information to Ultra AV without my knowledge. Thankfully, contacted Ultra AV and while they tried to sell me on their product, I told them I wanted nothing to do with it as I had already subscribed back in September to BitDefender. I simply wanted a refund and guarantee that they would never charge my card again without my express authorization. They said they would refund me but that remains to be seen.
Obviously isnt rebranded Kaspersky
Just learned about this when it crashed my PC. What the fuck russia
Is it still them tho? I could see them renaming themselves and built a new anti-virus from scratch.
What security should i use now bro wtf?
it just auto installed on me this morning, i without hesitation uninstalled it and tried to find and open kaspersky, i wasnt even current with it even being banned i bought the 3 year license in 2023 so i got it till 2026 will now i guess this fucking new shit on here, imma play with it if its junk then imma demand a refund, stating contract breaches since i didnt sign up with ultra but now they have all my secure info
I replaced Kaspersky with ESET - great test reviews (e.g., AV-TEST, smooth installation, intuitive user interface, not intrusive, versions for Windows, MAC, IOS, Android and Linux, and seems to take less resources - very happy camper.
Just buy Kaspersky license from any other country and download that country’s version(preferably India). I guess that should work?
