Follow up to my last question Proton VPN has port forwarding, do you guys suggest proton vpn over Surfshark? Or do you have other cheaper alternatives with a vpn with Port Forwarding.
Black Friday had a $2.99/mo for two year deal I grabbed. Might be worth looking for a deal.
I use Proton and so far I absolutely love it, and find it to be quite affordable. Torrenting with the port forwarding feature turned on improved dl/ul speeds immensely.
Always AirVPN for me for torrenting. High speed, 20 port forward available for you.
I have yet to find a VPN that can match the price and the services offered by them for torrenting.
It’s been the only VPN I’ve been able to get and keep connectable without any issues. I’d say it’s better than the others tbh.
Windscribe has ephemeral port forwarding for paid accounts and you can pretty regularly find 2-3-year deals on places like Stack Social for like 50USD give or take. Since they’re ephemeral you have to redo them about once a week, unless you pay extra for a static IP.
Not making any recommendations, just giving you another option that I haven’t seen listed yet.
I do recommend Proton, especially if you plan to torrent. It has port-forwarding and split-tunneling. I think there is another VPN that has both, maybe PIA or AirVPN?
Happy with proton. No further thoughts. Wireguard works. Port forward works. Price is fine.
You read my mind when you created this post, thanks.
PIA if you’re in a budget, don’t let the morons screaming for ultimate quantum grade privacy fear monger you into a decision that is more costly when you can’t afford it
Proton and Mullvad are similar in that way where they have the least amount of bells and whistles (which is very good) but they also cost substantially more at the bulk multi year deal. If the government cared about your internet history they will find a way to get to you, for simple torrenting most companies are more than adequate enough just make sure to look into any previous breaches of privacy (Surfshark actually does log traffic for example)
hide.me is my recommendation.
Ok, thanks for your suggestions many people said proton is good yet affordable and it has unlimited benefits
As someone who has tried AirVPN, I would say it’s highly dependent on where you are located. My general location actually results in really poor performance on a symmetric gigabit home connection. I usually get less than 1/4 of my network speed on AirVPN.
Sorry lol I’m a delusional person but how did I connect with your mind?
Can you share the source for Surfshark logging traffic? I’ll be dumping them if true.
A couple posts from different people for violating their TOS, here’s one where op specifically claims illegal content. You can’t violate tos for illegal downloads if you’re not logging data
https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/s/NaUg3Zjn2w
But their reasoning keeps changing between different posts, one says they can check what caused the ban, another says they can’t check the specific reason for a ban because of no logging so it seems suspicious all around
