Is NordVPN better over SurfShark?

I am always reading reviews that says that this two VPNs are equally good. But what is real truth? Do you have experience of using them both and testing which is better in terms of speed, features and price?

Surfshark is horrible with updates and virtually zero customer support. I had a two year sub with them and I was trying to fast forward the days to get a subscription for Nord. Don’t fall for SS’s crazy Black Friday deals. You’ll end up regretting it if you do.

When we test speed for you publication, we do automated speed tests, but our editorial team has also corroborated that Surfshark has seriously impressive speeds, but absolutely awful latency. No idea why that is, since there’s a lot of factors that could be at play, but if latency is something that’s important to you, Surfshark is a bit worse. Also, Surfshark makes you pay extra for a lot of its advanced security features, while NordVPN has them included in the price (though Nord is more expensive overall, when not discounted).

Surfshark covers a lot more countries than Nord, so you’ll have to see if they have the ones you’re interested in.

They’re both owned by the same company so privacy is equal. They’re both secure VPNs, top tier in my book.

Surfshark is worse for torrenting since not all servers support torrenting. For example, I live in the Balkans, but Surfshark switches me to a Dutch server if I start a torrent. That means you might get worse speed than you might expect, because it’ll redirect you to a more distant server.

NordVPN’s meshnet is a neat feature to have for transferring files, but it’s not something I’d base my purchasing decision on.

That’s about all I can think of.

I’ve tried both and yes, Nord is better overall. I haven’t been doing a detailed comparison since no one pays me for that but I feel like I had less disconnects, easier time connecting, less sites that would block the access etc.

Nord’s better but Surfshark makes their config files (for my usage type) easier to find and more accessible, e.g. WireGuard

You DO know they are the same company right?

I have both and Nord is far better.

I’ve had both. I had nord only initially, but when they discontinued their India servers I purchased surfshark. Overall for my usage I’ve felt that nord VPN is more stable (less auto disconnects) and faster for video streaming. I use surfshark now for its India server, but if nord VPN starts one I’ll switch back to nord.

I’ve tried both and hands down Nord is better out of the 2. I also use PIA and Hide.me all 3 great. Or at least I think so based on my research….

Always had better speeds at peak times with nord. Also a more stable connection with iptv. Will go back to nord once Surfshark subscription is over.

Do you really have less sides blocked with Nord? Because right now I have 30 day trail from SurfShark and I need to pause VPN for many tasks because they don’t work with VPN, for example phone connecting to YT TV. Also during Google Search I have significantly higher number of recaptchas which is annoying.

Are you doing a router setup with wireguard? Curious cause I wanted to do that with Nord but was told it wasn’t possible, so you sparked some hope for me

What makes Nord better?

Less, but you’ll get some with any VPN. Though I remember the amount of blocked sites and captchas with Surfshark was more than average. Nord is around average.

Yes, I had to get the Nord info (private key, public key, server info) through Linux and command prompts.

I had to look through various guides because I ran into different issues along the way.

Speed, reliability and lack of crapware

I’ll have to look into it then, thanks!
