Is Mullvad vpn doing good financially?

With so much competition, can I trust Mullvad vpn to keep their services still up for the next few years? I am a big fan of mullvad and have been using for a while. It is still my favourite service as it does-not need email registration. Is there any other VPN’s that does this? I feel like they really care, but can they keep going? The competition has a lot of discount codes, I know mullvad has a 5 Euro policy but is there any discounted keys etc? I saw some on amazon.

Mullvad is one of the few VPNs that was around and recommended ~15 years ago that is still around and recommended today. As they like to say in the stockmarket, “past performance is not indicative of the future,” but I don’t see any reason to presume Mullvad will disappear anytime soon.

I am coming form the shark one. I jumped in that mess when they had a big discount for 2 years. All I got is bunch of ads and spam. Cancelling the subscription is not a public link, I had to chat with a bot to get the link to cancellation and that was a 5 page thing. Even at the last minute after I cancelled they tried to pull me in with an even bigger discount. It was so annoying I lost all my trust in them.

So I finally gave up and payed Mullvad 5 bucks for this first month. And I will buy a gift card for half a year next. I know they will not bother me as they have no way to contact me. I am perfectly fine with that. I pay for that a little more. And I am sure I am not alone with this.

Mullvad VPN is unique. It’s the only provider for people who care about security and privacy. They do not collect any personal information, no phone number, email address or name is required.

It’s not a service heavy torrent users like as they do not allow port forwarding. This is good for security, no risk of accidental incoming access due to port forwarding. Without heavy torrent users the service quality is much better for all customers. Heavy torrent users are expensive for a VPN service.

Parying w xmr gives a discount

My work requires many uagae of vpns and proxies.
I have used it all, from big ones like nord express ,pia ,windscibe to small ones like purevln, ivpn ,airvpn, ipvanish and many more .
By far the best one i have found is mullvad . No bullshit, or laggy software and good Speeds and decent security and good protocols.
The second one which i will recommend after mullvad is windscibe

IVPN is very similar…

thank you so much, this is what I needed, I don’t know the financial world, was just asking to make a good decision, don’t understand all the downvotes on my post tbh. strange community but great app.

yes, I really enjoy mullvad, that is why I asked this question, as I was hoping to use it for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the info, I am glad to know, I love mullvad, that’s why I posted this question, to make sure its sustaibable and can use, In the past I have had services give up on me.

As for the other services, I am sure they make money otherways, mullvad is just a VPN only service from what I know, at least for their well known stuff.
Moreover, other sevices, after selling you 2 year big subscription, will cancel it in the middle, and renew fees are very high, for example I saw these 2
https://surfshark.com/terms-of-service/pricing
https://my.nordaccount.com/legal/pricing/

When your subscription is over and if card is there, they will instantly charge these huge amounts, and it wwas and is incredibly hard to get support regarding account cancellation, and this is impossible to do this on their app, idk why no one talks about it.

anyway, all in all, I really enjoy mullvad, thats why I asked the question, hoping to use it in the future, the comment with the most upvotes give a nice link that illustrates the business, which is nice.
But not sure why my post got downvoted, did not expect that. Thanks for the reply again.

You didn’t assume anything, and I didn’t mean to imply that you did.

Let me rephrase:

Mullvad has been around for many years, and has a simple business model (provide a service, charge a flat monthly fee for that service) I don’t see any reason to believe that won’t continue to be true.

u/ArneBolen Pretty much smashed it, though commonly, when I’ve seen port forwarding mentioned among torrenters, it’s usually for the more unsavory users. Check iknowwhatyoudownload as reference, hate to say it, but there are several degenerates who use port forwarding for some of the purposes you’ll find there. While not all are accurate, it gives you a peek at what your neighbor IP downloads, often times with VPN services you’ll find very unsavory individuals.

So is “port forwarding” something that heavy torrent users use or what about Mullvad means it’s not so usable for torrent users as other VPNs?

Mullvad can be used with a torrent client, which works fine for those who like to download a Linux distro once in a while.

Heavy torrent users seem to prefer a provider with port forwarding, they claim that is better. Those users are probably not happy with Mullvad.

Think of it. Heavy torrent users may each use several Terabytes of traffic every month, while ordinary users use much less. It’s not fair that someone using 5-10 Terabytes a month pays the same as another user with only a few Gigabytes traffic monthly.
