Is HMA a good VPN?

Hi, in the last 6 months, I’ve been targeted, stealing my data, passwords, social media accounts, and they stole my Facebook which I am still not able to recover, and yesterday the same hacker from Brazil stole my credit card details, good thing my bank stopped the $200 transaction and notified me, they canceled it until I get a new one.

He is the same hacker, still on my back for 6 months straight.

I’ve been told it’s a mistake not to use any VPN, and that it would be more safe and secured.

Does anyone know if HMA! (Hide my as$) VPN good? On G2A website, there is a good offer, $20 for two years.

I download music and torrents daily, should I go ahead and buy it?

No it is not and they also do reply to dmca requests

I have never heard of this VPN, so I looked it up. The first thing I see is a reddit thread about it being trash. Hell, most of the results are people bashing HMA. Needless to say, I wouldn’t use it lol. Go with Proton, Mullvad, Or AirVPN instead.

Also, I don’t think using a VPN will do anything for your issue. I assume the hacker already knows where you live lol.

A VPN won’t help if the hacker has access to your accounts and sensitive data (it sounds like the hacker was able to gain access to a password manager or device you use), but you should do a scan using free antivirus software such as HitmanPro/Bitdefender/Kaspersky. A fresh install of Windows/macOS/Linux from the install media is likely more effective and easier, just make sure to back up any data you want to keep. Reset all passwords and thoroughly scan your social media accounts for any suspicious 3rd party linked apps/websites and logged in devices, and enable 2FA after confirming your devices are free of any malicious software. I recommend Mullvad or Private Internet Access if you need a VPN.

never heard of it, use proton vpn. also you might have bigger issues than a VPN.

Fully recommend Mullvad VPN!

Like all the other comments have said, the answer to your question is : NO HMA IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

What you need is a clean sweep of your systems, including the computer, mobile, etc. Change your wifi password, your email accounts, etc etc. basically anything that has/can have a password, change it and enable 2FA(Two factor authentication) or MFA(multi factor authentication) wherever you can.

It could be a shady password manager you used, or some keylogger, etc that allowed the breach, check about it carefully.

When you start anew, refer to the Wiki and the FAQ before you even begin to pirate. Using a questionable VPN can have bigger implications than just the IP Leak.

From what i gather from your post, i believe you are not so ‘savvy?’ (apologies in case I’m wrong). However, the community is here to help. Ask your question but do your own research beforehand.

If you’re not protecting yourself merely because of cost, you are making a foolish decision. Potential agony and financial losses you incur are far more than a $100/year VPN. It’s like having unprotected sex because condoms are expensive. (Pun intended)

Stay safe!

  1. Perform a clean, fresh installation of your operating system.
  2. Factory reset your phone to its original settings.
  3. Update all passwords for your social media and banking accounts, ensuring they are strong and unique.
  4. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for all your accounts to add an extra layer of security.
  5. Utilize a reliable VPN service such as Mullvad or ProtonVPN to protect your online privacy and security.

HMA got a colorful history.

they claimed before no logs , then handed full logs out went a few years openly with logs then went back to no logs and got bought by Norton ( Avast , avg , avira… ) now its the VPN behind Avast / Avg vpn.

I wouldnt trust it.

I’ve been told it’s a mistake not to use any VPN, and that it would be more safe and secured.

This is not the reason why you got hacked.
They probably either tricked you into installing malicious software or into giving your credentials in a fake website.

You are wasting your money, I have seen you posting in cracked software subreddits, you are a fool if you think that a VPN and antivirus is going to protect you from viruses in cracked software, nothing will, if you buy a VPN now you might as well have your VPN stolen by the hacker. Wipe the whole operating system and re-install everything and never install any cracked software again, that will keep you far safer than a VPN.

they also do reply to dmca requests

any vpn does , non logging ones simply answer with no data to hand out.

The hacker is chasing me almost daily, I will delete everything on Chrome, I installed Bitdefender and disabled Avast, I will see if this helps.

also you might have bigger issues than a VPN

I was thinking the same thing. You have been bugged somehow on your current hardware.

You need a new computer and a new phone. Once you get them change all your passwords and enable 2FA on everything.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks, I used the free version of proton for a couple of days, I will check its pricing plans.

If you suspect that your PC is compromised, your best action will be reinstalling your operating system completely. Also give Firefox a try with uBlock Origin, personally I was never a fan of chrome.

Yep, agreed. I was also thinking this could be someone close to OP irl, because a hacker won’t make an effort to go back someone a second time. I am also curious how he knows the same dude got his ccs. Probably just got skimmed.

Proton has a deal going on right now, I was able to pay and get 2 years upfront for only 107. Just signed up for it yesterday!

I know it’s the same hacker because my social accounts sent me tons of notification emails asking me if it was me who signed in from Brazil, and now on my credit card when I checked the website that he tried to make some purchases on the county code is also Brazil.

I don’t think he bugged me in real life, I work from home and I barely talk to strangers or visit people, I think it was some illegal streaming websites I used to watch on some sports, or a fake torrent website.
