Is Cybernews Trustworthy with their AV reviews?

I’m not sure if Cybernews is trustworthy with their antivirus reviews, as they’ve made countless of reviews on suspicious programs.

The programs mentioned are:

TotalAV (PUP)

Norton (adware)

McAfee (adware)

Avast (annoying ads)

The programs are annoying to users in the subreddit and I don’t know if its trustworthy or not.

If it’s not trustworthy, send me some good creators that do good and honest reviews.

TPSC is one.

I’ve given a link to the channel which is the suspicious one.

All of the labels on Norton, total AV and Mcafee ect are all fair. They are pretty bad products

Honestly, This is very true.
Norton and McAfee are the ones who show in pup installers and popups.

Their website is covered in totalAV ads and I even received a popup ad for totalAV within 5 seconds of being on the site

So I’m gonna say no

https://www.av-comparatives.org/comparison/ is audited annually by TÜV Austria, supposedly ensuring that their reviews are authentic.

This guy tested it and compared it.
Total Av actually detects some viruses, but awful detection rate, but it’s also has a different brand name PC Protect. Same methods used. When you uninstall you get a pop up with a deal.

Is this an attack at Cybernews because they are not recommending Kaspersky? I, for one, agree with their review.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaspersky_bans_and_allegations_of_Russian_government_ties

I don’t get why people hate kaspersky cause there a Russian based company. There servers are in Switzerland now. https://www.kaspersky.com/about/press-releases/2022_kaspersky-relocates-cyberthreat-related-data-processing-for-users-in-latin-america-and-middle-east-to-switzerland-and-re-certifies-its-data-services-by-tuv-austria

Dont attack people because they like Kaspersky, If you don’t just ignore the post.

That does sound scary and some of it might be true, but ANYONE can post/update a Wikipedia page, hence no more reliable than a Reddit thread. https://www.av-comparatives.org/comparison/ is audited annually by TÜV Austria and (at least lately) Kaspersky consistently lands in the top four or so, more often leading the pack, e.g., AVG, Avast & Kaspersky tied for top honors in the Real-World Protection Test (Feb-Mar 2024) and Kaspersky edged out all of the next best options in the Malware Protection Test (Mar-2024). Bitdefender tends to slightly miss top honors, but their consistency over time is astonishing.

showed NordVPN’s parent company linked to Cybernews based on a (2023-Apr-23) article in Bloomberg, and a Google search will tell you that the same investors are behind Mediatech (parent of Cybernews) and NordVPN, so you probably cannot believe Cybernews’ reviews on competing VPNs, which when combined with the common practice of VPNs & AV companies paying 30-50% commission for tracking cookie sales leads from affiliates therefore casts doubt on their (2024-Jan-05) Kaspersky Anti-Virus review: is it safe to use? Eugene Kaspersky posted: (2022-Mar-16) Collateral Damage on Cybersecurity in response to accusations, but anyone with enough chips in the game pretty much HAS to say. Absolute truth is so hard to come by.

https://embed.kumu.io/9ced55e897e74fd807be51990b26b415#vpn-company-relationships/safety-detectives is the coolest corporate relationship map I’ve seen, though my interest there was VPN companies, where STILL not yet real-world-tested AVG VPN (Czech Republic) looks like it might be good.
