In the ci.popcorntime.app, there is an option "Enable VPN" - which VPN does it use? Is it safe? Can I setup to use my paid VPN account instead?

I couldn’t find any further info on which VPN it uses, if it’s safe and also if it will exclusivly go via this VPN if the option is checked or if it will just go untunneled, when the VPN connection is lost. Does anyone know more about this?

Also, is it possible to use my NordVPN proxy via this proxy setting? Or would only be possible to use public proxies?

Edit: okay, my question might have been a bit unclear: I wasn’t asking if popcorn time would work thru my NordVPN app connection, but if it’s possible to use my vpn service within the app, so I dont have to tunnel all my traffic, but only the pt traffic? Like, can I use the a NordVPN proxy connection via the inbuilt proxy feature? If so, how would I be able login with my nord account?

yes you can use your own VPN if you want but i cant say anything about inbuilt VPN (im not a developer so i dont know).
but for my personal preferences…

connection limit : 999999999
port to stream on : 6881-6889 (standard port for bittorrent,[use diffrent ports if you use other torrent clients alongside OR there will be pre occupied ports you wont be abel to use it])

active torrents : 1 (best for streaming only)

& uncheck the “continue seeding after restarting the app”

& check the “clear temp folder after closing app”

Will it use a free version of that VPN service? Or how does it verify an account? And could I instead use another VPN service (like nordvpn, where I have a prem account)?

Assuming you have it setup to route all traffic from your device

I would prefer not to route all traffic, but only the pt traffic if thats possible

ah, thanks for correction and explaination. i have just try and error things so i thougnt sharing what worked for me…
