Im so worried for my laptop!

I have a Lenovo computer, set up with AVG security systems McAfee and a vpn on and stuff like that. But a while ago I was trying to download music from those spotify music Downloader things ( I had my vpn and adblock on too) and I left for a while, and I came back to my computer being off and I just thought the battery died. So I placed it into charge but now when I charge it the battery light doesn’t go orange and the computer doesn’t show anything AT ALL ( normally it shows low percentage or the home screen ). I’m super super worried because I got this computer like 8 months ago and my brother/family will DEFINETLY get mad at me if it’s like a virus. Any tips???

Avg and McAfee. You shouldn’t have 2 antivirus. McAfee is terrible. Better off getting rid of both and just use windows defender.

Your charger is probably broken, get a universal laptop charger. look on the back of the brick to see the watt output and get one that can do the same or more.

There is also a serial number on the back if you want to get the exact same one.

Most viruses won’t damage your computer like that. They will still let it boot to steal your data, use your resources or at the minimum show a ransomware screen.

This sounds like a hardware problem and if it’s 8 months old from new then it will probably be covered under a warranty.

It sounds like you have an issue with your power supply. Try unplugging the power cord from the power brick and replug it back in. It’s possible it’s wiggled loose just enough that it’s not making a connection anymore. You can also try wiggling the adaptor tip where it plugs into the laptop and see if your charge light comes on.

Pro tip, McAfee is considered bloatware. It will scare you into purchasing their plan, which you do not need. Lenovo will put it on their system because they get paid by McAfee for it. Windows Security is a built in windows system. It works better than McAfee. I would highly recommend canceling McAfee and uninstalling as soon as possible. At this point it is a waste of money.

Your problem sounds like it is coming from your charger BTW. Assuming your laptop is USB charged, and is relatively lightweight, any 65W charger should work.

Lenovos often have a small hole in the base where you can do a “pin reset”. You don’t need a PIN number, just one of those SIM card ejector pins, Unplug, power off push the pin into the Emergency reset hole, hold for 60 seconds and release it.

Even if it was a virus it often can’t be helped, no one is an expert to the point they know where and what every virus is, if they get mad at you then there’s a lot more to worry about than this issue.

Unplug the power supply, hold the power button for 20 seconds, it should force whats often called a power or static drain, it tries to trigger the power controller to reset, then plug the adapter back in and se if it charges, if it won’t then you’ve most likely got a hardware fault, bear in mind though that some laptops/devices won’t show any sign of life until the battery has a few percent charge, it can be daunting, they look dead/faulty but suddenly start to show charging or signs of life, one of my laptops does this, it needs about 5% charge before it will allow itself to be turned on.

You went over the top with Anti-Virus, you do not need a VPN, AVG, or McAfee. Windows Defender is good enough paired with a good adblocker such as uBlock origin.

Maybe I will!! Thankfully I have a warranty so I’ll probably check for new chargers there and if it doesn’t work still I’ll just submit it for fixing, thanks so much for your time !

I tried doing that but sadly it didn’t work either. A lot of people commented about it being my charger but the thing is my charger works entirely fine the day before that and it never got damaged or such. Maybe my model (Slim 3 15IRU8 I7 16G 512G 11H) has something to do with it?

I hate to dissapoint you, but usually charger, batter and screen are the things that are not covered under warranty. But still try, you never know.

The chargers go first. My laptop is 8 years old on it’s third charger.
