I'm ditching Hola. What free VPN chrome/firefox plug-in would you recommend?

I’m ditching hola after reading some harsh criticism. I’m looking for a free VPN plug-in for chrome or firefox.

Difficulty: work computer, so I cant install anything big, just browser plugins. I just want to obscure my IP address and watch foreign netflix.

Thanks.

Personally I would avoid anything free

The free ones are logged, incredibly slow, or backdoored.

Paid VPNs are reliable, quick, versatile (different countries), and potentially not logged.

Remember, if you’re not paying for it, you are most likely the product. If you want free, you’ll be sacrificing something (and usually it’s identity/tracking).

Nothing that isn’t crap is free. You pay for it one way, or the other (ala Hola).

Just pay for it if you really need it. If you are really paranoid pay with bitcoin or whatever. I mean you are still going to have to trust the vpn.

What made you leave hola

Ad free time works for me. It works via DNS redirection so can be implemented at your device or network level. Only costs a quid a month.

Maybe use proxies instead? you could setup your own at home too and use that at work (with TOR)

so what did you end up using?

Not that it is really my business but why are you using a free VPN on your work computer? I don’t know what you do or who you work for but this could be against a policy or two… Especially if you are attempting to get around a work proxy.

With that said, fine a paid for proxy or VPN. Free add-ons like Hola are too good to be true and as things have been discovered in the past weeks are a mess.

FYI most of that Hola stuff was not accurate, besides they fixed all vulnerabilities shortly after.

If not Hola I recommend Bright VPN.

lmao there is a whole army of Nord bots down here. fuck you all I guess. besides, your company is too lazy to maintain a chrome extension for their product so yeah, just a VPN app, not an extension.

In terms of browser plugins, these links might be what you’re looking for.

Thanks, I’ll look into these for my non-work computer.

I understand, nothing is free, tracking is the ‘payment.’ However, in the reports I read, hola was going far beyond tracking.

Remember, if you’re not paying for it, you are most likely the product.

I’m ok with that, and presumably so are the billions of people using Reddit, Google, and Instagram.
