I’m a Youtube TV subscriber and the other day I subscribed to HBO Max as an add-on and I was able to login to the HBO Max app and link it just fine. However, on our other Youtube TV account, I tried to do the same thing and followed the same steps and it said “Can’t sign in, this account doesn’t have access to HBO Max.”
Can anyone offer some help? I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
Every HBO Max account is one email with multiple profiles no matter how you get it. Direct, Prime, Hulu, YTTV, etc. One monthly payment = one account = one email = multiple profiles on the account. So make sure to use a password that you don’t use with anything else if you are sharing with someone else. The only way to get multiple different logins is to have each person subscribe on their own.
Great question — with the HBO Max add-on, only the family manager’s account can sign into HBO Max with their login info, more details here.
You can also access and browse hbo max through the YouTube tv app. Click the little $ icon, go to max add-on, and there will be a browse max option. It brings up everything on the Max app.
Only the primary email address has access to the HBO Max add-on because that’s what you’re paying for YouTube TV. You would have to log the other device in for the person wanting to watch Contant.
The big question would be is the other account a member of your YouTube TV, family and other words do they have access to YouTube TV as a part of your family or is it a separate subscription?
I weirdly am having this same issue, but as far as I can tell, I am getting Max for free. When I login to Max, I can see an Ad-Free (Monthly) subscription billed through YouTube TV, but I cancelled YouTube TV years ago. I even searched my bank account and all credit cards - there are no charges for either Max or YouTube TV. I’m not going to say anything and see how long it lasts.

We use Netflix the same way one account different profiles unless of course each person wants to pay for their own account which is a waste of money

It’s not a separate subscription it’s one of the sub accounts on the main YouTube TV subscription. Thanks for the info.
I just noticed the same thing after receiving an email from them about changes to the ad free plan lol
All of them are (Peacock, Discovery+, Paramount+, NetFilx, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+). YTTV is different in that for its profiles it uses the Google login of each person and it cause a lot of confusion for people it seems. I have seen similar questions about it asked quite a few times. YTTV causes issues when the main person passes or decides they don’t want it any more. That gets messy as hell, especially with the limits on how many times you can leave and join Family Groups in a set time.
HBO and MAX are now two different channels and must be subscribed to separately. There is no longer HBO MAX.
Sub accounts = profiles. I usually say sub accounts as my memory forgets ‘profiles’, I believe hbomax allows up to 5 profiles, hopefully that wont change with ‘max’.
I just had the same email and situation. I can sign into max via my email that I use for youtubeTV and it says it’s controlled by youtubetb, but youtube isn’t showing that it’s added. Am I being billed somewhere else or am i getting it for free??

Like the poster above, I checked everywhere possible and was not billed. I’ve probably been unknowingly getting it for like 2 years now. Watch them fix it this month after people like us start using it lmao
