The launcher only works with vpn/proxy. Otherwise youll get a “server in maintenance” message
Don’t tell them that now. The server is already overloaded and this is how they prevent it from crashing.
You don’t need VPN nor proxy to play dauntless in China 
at least in closed beta
Not only that, it doesn’t seem I can log into the game at all. I’ve gotten past the launcher but now it will not retrieve server data at all.
Any tests done after going through the launcher? I keep getting disconnects randomly when doing hunts. Mind you, not all the time, but if I could be on a stable connection (no vpn) while on hunts, that would obviously be better.
Launcher uses Google Servers, no clue about the actual hunt instance servers.

Seems like it’s no longer the case for the open beta. It was also available without a vpn/proxy in the Alpha.
Yup, without proxy/vpn you cant get through the launcher ;/
