So I live in China and I have a bug where my vpn (lets vpn) show me “failed to get ID” everytime I open it. I tried everything and it seems that my only solution is to reinstall it. My problem is that I can’t delete it because it says that the application is open. But with this message that won’t go away I cant quit the app. I tried the esc, option, command method but the app doesn’t appear on that. I can’t find any solution on internet and I’m a bit stuck
Boot into safe mode and then try to uninstall it. Or remove the library files that set it to auto run on startup
Boot in to safe mode as the daemons and agents should not start. I’d suggest using terminal to force delete, but with this being a vpn client it will have a network extension that needs to be removed which only happens with the uninstalled property unless you disable SIP and manually force the extension off which is not fun.
Don’t rule out the great firewall of china blocking something this vpn client needs to function.
you could’ve just activity monitor’ed it (open activity monitor, search for the app, click the x icon and click force quit)
thank you sm I finally uninstalled it
