Hey there,
looking to create a proxy/vpn for torrenting on my unraid server that is seperate to my other apps using my home network. I think people have done this but not sure and even if so not sure how it can be done myself which is why im asking the question.
Since i live in a place where most sites are blocked I normally need a vpn to access these now on unraid i wanna do the same thing but only for a few certain programs and leave the rest alone as they are on my home network untouched and keep the 2 seperate.
Thanks in advance for any guidence or suggestions
I think this is what you’re after, routing one container through a VPN, which is running in another container.
Would I need to make my own vpn with it or can it use a vpn I already pay for? And I was trying to aim my post more around like setting up a possible sonar and radar with an index and also torrrent client on the vpn but then still had access to my local media so that it can scan and know what to download and what not to
If your paid VPN supports openvpn, yes it works.
like setting up a possible sonar and radar with an index and also torrrent client on the vpn
If you are looking at routing other dockers e.g. sonarr and radarr through the vpn, you just need to edit a few configuration while setting the -arrs dockers. https://unraid-guides.com/2021/05/19/how-to-route-any-docker-container-on-unraid-through-a-vpn/
still had access to my local media so that it can scan and know what to download and what not to
Everything is still local. When you stream your media, it fetches the traffic locally. The content traffic doesn’t leave through the vpn and back to your streaming clients.
