How to bypass Crunchyroll & Disney+ VPN block?

I found an old post from 3 years ago, but I’d like to post another one so that it gets more eyes, if possible.

I’d like to bypass them from the Firefox & Brave/Chrome extension.

First up, you will need the full app. If you’re using just a browser extension it’s not gonna be powerful enough to achieve what you want.

Secondly, like you and everybody else here, I had problems with this …until I learned I was using the VPN wrong. There’s a feature specifically for this issue. Multi-hopping/Obfuscation. Basically, the feature allows you to connect to one server through a proxy, completely obfuscating the connection. You’ll appear to be connecting from said region, but beyond that they have no idea.

I could only provide instructions for MacOS so if you can’t find the setting try popping PIA multi-hop into a search engine.

You pay for a vpn, so why do you stream in the first place? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Personally never had problems with being blocked when it comes to Crunchyroll. I think it’s interesting people think that it used to be better in the past since they didn’t even advertise streaming as a selling point before the owner shift.

I never have any issues. You’re using the US East/West streaming optimized servers, right?

Longtime PIA user, yes I agree with your assessment above. Noticed it myself. What’s a good alternative these days? ExpressVPN?

Is it really the VPN company’s fault or the fact that streaming services are getting better at figuring out what’s VPN traffic?

That’s what I was thinking

region blocks are the main reason

The only reliable solution is a private VPN with its own dedicated IP.

I had PIA, have been going on Nord for 2 years after they turned auto renew back on without my consent and bought a full year (it’s a thing). PIA just seems left behind, Nord is just BAD, a lot of cool features that don’t work… looking forward to giving ExpressVPN a try.

Umm. It’s just networking so it’s the VPN companies fault for not obfuscating the server. We can make our own VPNs with no issues but then you have to administer it. shrug

Yes! Please share your research whenever you get there. Appreciate it.

I also am looking move as any site I try to access detects I’m using a VPN, rendering PIA’s VPN worthless… Does anyone know if you can get some sort of refund if you decide to cancel your contract before the end date?

Not really, an obfuscated server that offers dedicated IPs would solve the problem too.

Money is gone. You paid in advance and they are delivering what they promised.

I don’t suggest a chargeback either because if you do too many of those, your CC company will get suspicious.

In general, the money you spent isn’t worth the hassle or potential drama. Take your losses and move on.

Yeah I knew it was a long shot, but I wanted to confirm because some subscription services will partially refund you if you cancel midway through. In any case, I started with PIA during a promotional period and I’ll hold onto the small comfort that at least I didn’t pay full price lol.
