Hey everyone this is my first post in this sub. I was just wondering how safe windscribe is? I use windscribe VPN and i’m not very sure about the safety of it. It seems wah to cheap to be true and i’m not sure if it’s as secure as windscribe them self make it out to be… or even the general public.
Also, What does no logging mean?
Update: It does seem to be changing my location and IP address which i just checked with the help of an IP address locator. This a good sign i think.
Trying to guess “trustworthiness” or “not logging” is a losing game. You never can be sure, about any product or service. Even an audit or court case just establishes one data point.
So, instead DON’T trust: compartmentalize, encrypt, use defense in depth, test, verify, don’t post private stuff, maybe don’t do illegal stuff. And give fake/anon info where possible: fake name, throwaway or unique email address, pay with gift card or virtual credit card or crypto or cash.
You can use a VPN, ISP, bank, etc without having to trust them.
I personally trust Windscribe because they don’t spend thousands on advertisements and sponsorships. Or at least, I trust them more so than VPN companies that do.
After using it for about 3-4 years now, I’ve not been given any reason to think I misplaced my trust (and I hope it stays that way).
As people comment already, we can’t rely on reviewers, top lists, etc. because VPN has become a profitable business, money is messing with the math. Better rely on close friends or to read a bit about it - there is no mystery. Windscribe is not the top in security but they achieved a good balance cost - result. I believe if you get some testers and to examine the tech they use, you will see they are good enough for most of common people like us (we don’t pretend to avoid NSA). Plus, you can combine Tor and other safe apps with VPN and make hard to the hacker to get your porn.
I just signed up for windscribe like 3 days ago. I had been going from vpn to vpn trying to find the right one for me and I think I found it. I hate captchas and so far I haven’t encountered any with windscribe. Plus Robert is a amazing tool. I’m not a tech guy what so ever but with some vpns you can’t even go to a Pizza Hut or GameStop websites. Every other vpn I’ve tried can’t unblock both sites except for windscribe. It may not be the best way to test a vpn but it sure beats having to do all those captchas. Plus this vpn offers a decent amount of features. So far I’m thinking about signing up for a year but I may wait a little longer. So far so good.
Well, Don’t work. I’m not planning to do any illegal stuff. However, Windscibe vpn was recommended to me by a close friend. They mentioned that it’s pretty secure and that i should test it out. But when i wanted to do some research on Windscribe vpn i saw a few negative remarks and posts about the VPN. So i’d just thought i’d check, since this is a Windscribe VPN sub and most of you people would be familiar with the VPn.
Yeah techlore is pretty good. Also tomspark on YouTube has windscribe on his top 10 vpns. I think windscribe is number 7 in the vpn tier list for Tom sparks.
If you want some inside info. You can search “Windscribe blog” and look around. The first link in the browser should be it. In other words, by the CEO himself Yegor Sak. He claims to be working on changing to RAM servers so what they log is kept for a very short time. And working on getting independent audit. (To make it even more transparent and prove their claims).
I use Windscribe and I like it. Their support and features and uptime have been good. Beyond that, we never can really know about the various services we use.
