Do you guys know any free VPN to use so that I could play the game properly. Ive been using one but it only has allocated data and it already capped. When im not on VPN, game is completely unplayable with high packet loss and ping which results to getting dced every single raid. Help a brother out. I cant pay for vpn coz im broke and just a kid lmao. thank you
VPN are not the solution. They just increase latency. Feee ones are especially bad.
How do VPNs help with high ping? I mean, you still have to connect to the VPN server far away.
Same boat for me. I don’t understand why using a VPN improves my ping, but it does. I’m using Proton VPN, which has a free trial of 7 days. Eventually bought a subscription of it. My friend uses tunnelbear (which has free plans) sometimes and it helps as well.
Are you by any chance based on an Antarctic research station or something similar?
There’s really no free VPNS in existence that are worth it. They have to make money on server upkeep some how. I also don’t think a VPN would solve your issue, but if you think it would, your best option would be to buy a cheap one.
CyberGhost is your best bet => https://www.anonymistic.com/best-gaming-vpn/
I really suggest you to avoid using free VPNs, even if it is for gaming. This video (https://youtu.be/MGYpTf1OvF8) summarises why a VPN is necessary even if it’s only to play online. You know the saying… If it is free, it means that you are the product. Well it is really not a good idea to be used and especially with your data.
Get yourself one of the main providers like Nordvpn, Expressvpn, Surfshark but be really careful if you get a free one.
well, it is for me. i cant play the game without vpn. if I use vpn, I could play the game without getting dced
Your ping is based on the distance to the server. The distance is not a straight line but needs to go through nodes in the infrastructure. So if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has terrible routing it can cause high ping. If a node is faulty you might see high packet loss. That is entirely an issue with your ISP.
EDIT: you might also want to watch these videos, should give you all the explanation you need: https://youtu.be/hiHP0N-jMx8 for general networking and games and https://youtu.be/n7MVdUBjTv8 for how VPN providers can in some cases help
A VPN essentially works by routing all your traffic to a proxy server on their network that relays traffic via their internal network to a different proxy server. In that case the game server thinks that your data is coming from that proxy. The reason why it might help is that VPN providers can have a much better network infrastructure and good routing via MPLS rings (this is what gaming VPNs are made for actually). So if you are in let’s say Germany and use a VPN, but instead of having it go to US to watch Netflix shows unavailable in your country, you have the VPN exit point also be in Germany. If your ISP is trash at routing you will see better (or unchanged) ping and lower packet loss.
Think of it this way. Regularly you would go PC → ISP1 → ISP2 → ISP3 → Server (greatly simplified). Let’s say the router in ISP2 node is trash and drops packets. Instead, you use a VPN and it goes PC → ISP1 → VPN1 → VPN2 → ISP3 →Server. This route can be either longer or shorter than the ISP one, depending on how bad the ISP route is but if you stay within the same country, generally your ping difference will be negligable.
i get you but like I said. if i play on vpn, I can play the game without getting dced
Short story: bad internet service provider (ISP). You can watch these videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiHP0N-jMx8 for basic networking in games and https://youtu.be/n7MVdUBjTv8 for how VPNs can in some rare instances help with your connection.
Long story short, your ISP might have bad routing (takes a long way around to reach the server) or a node in the route is faulty and drops a lot of packets. In that case if you know what game servers you are reaching you can ask your ISP to investigate. A VPN will take care of the routing through their own internal network where they might have MPLS rings (basically their own dedicated connections between locations) where the routing is much better.
yeah it really sucks. servers are so fcked even some of the streamers I watch use vpn just to play the game
Well free isn’t gonna cut it. You’ll want to use PIA or Nord. They’re a couple bucks a month. You wash someone’s car once a month and you can pay for it thrice over.
May I ask where you live in?
yeah I think it’s mostly due to our ISP’s here. but thanks for the info! I had a hunch but never really knew the reasons and workings of it.
Try proton. My isp (PLDC) didn’t have any problems with tarkov before but lately I need a vpn to play. Only server I can play without a vpn is japan. hk and sg are too high. My friends who use other isp’s are good with different servers as well. so weird. I hate it. we can’t find a common server to play together.
My friend uses proton, then when the 7 days trial is up he makes a new account to get a new 7 day trial.
Are you playing on your own servers?
thanks brother! sobrang hassle ng tarkov tangina hahaha
lol yeah, but I think it is mostly due to the shit internet we have, kasi early this year wala pa ako probs, only mid january that I need the vpn.
My friend also said meron daw nasira na underwater cable or something, pero ang tagal ayusin eh. sobrang hassle, napagastos pa ako sa vpn hahaha
