EDIT: Fortinet have now put the full packages up directly on their site. They’re using a CDN now to distribute these so speeds should be fine. Please obtain these from https://forticlient.com/downloads
There have been an increasing number of comments and threads lately relating to poor speeds when trying to download FortiClient VPN using the online installer available viaforticlient.com
For those who have access to the Support Portal, copies of the offline installer can be found under Downloads → FortiClient. This remains the preferential (and only official) place to obtain this software if possible.
For end-users or others who don’t have access to the Support Portal, I have mirrored these files on Google Drive in the interest of keeping them freely and readily available. These can be found here:
You will need to take my word that these are unmodified as there are no checksums published on the Support Portal at the time of writing. Given these are freely and publicly available (albeit indirectly), there should be no licensing issues with distributing these files. However, keep in mind this isnotan official mirror, nor an official post from Fortinet.
Thx for this unofficial mirror - could you also add the MacOS offline installer? This morning the download was only slow but since a few hours the online installer is quitting with „Failed to connect to the download server“.
So if possible I would be happy about MacOS client 6.0.9!
“Fortinet have now put the full packages up directly on their site”
No they did not, it is downloading online installer.
It blows my mind that you have to download an online installer that essentially is just a downloader and then run that to download offline installer and then run it. Also it is funny that you will need to create an account to be able to download offline installer from support page, while they will not provide any support for it (then why need a support account for it?)
I… don’t understand what you mean. Can you rephrase it to something less confusing?
I need the MSI for GPO install. The files in the Google Drive are EXE files.
Do you mean: start the EXE file and while it’s installing, the MSI file will appear among your temporary files?
update Oh, yes. I start up the EXE file, and before actually install it (it’s now at the page to select the install directory), I now see these 3 MSI files when running dir /s/b *.msi` from my %userprofile%:
This might be me being blind, but I went to the support portal last week to grab offline installers and couldn’t find them anywhere. Just nicely packaged versions of all the online installers, at least for the latest version of forticlient.
Ended up just grabbing it from AppData during the install on one client.
Thank you for providing an official mirror! Will surely help some people, especially those without support contracts.
The file FortiClient_x64.msi is identical to the MSI file I think I downloaded from https://forticlient.com/downloads though I cannot find that link any more, which is as I recall version 6.0.6, and it’s the full installer.
The file Forticlient_x64-VPN.msi fails to install with error code 2356 and rolls back.
But the file FortiClientVPN.msi, thus the one under the GUID, installs properly and just the VPN. That’s more like it!
